just a quick update.. going on 2weeks post op friday and i feel excellent, have full mobilty back in my arms and have gone back to my summer job labouring which regards some very very heavy lifting all day.. i do wear the compression vest working but really i feel i dont need it at all..im going to stop wearing it friday as iv very minimal bruising left and no pain..

chest and armpit hair starting to grow back and im sure it wil look a lot better when fully grown back..il post pics on friday of me 2 weeks post op so ye can have a look!!

just a quick question

what is the main function of the vest??
is it to releif pain and support chest??

just asking as i feel fine without it and need no support but im just worried if taking it of to early effects shape of your new chest etc...

I'm by no means an expert but I thought the function of the vest was to minimise the swelling whilst the tissue heals, thus giving a better 'overall' result. It also restricts the area that the scar tissue can form into, so you'll end up with less bumpy bits. I haven't had surgery yet though so don't quote me on that but I'd say it was important to wear it for the amount of time the surgeon recommended.

Hey Irish lad, how you coming along?

I've noticed my skin over my left pec is a bit weird when I flex it, some skin seems to cave inwards and my nipples stays in the same place - basically there's a bit of concavity. Have you noticed anything similar or had any slightly worrying issues? I'm not even 2 weeks post op, so I know I've got another 5 and half months at least before I can really start worrying but still reassuring to know how others are doing.

Cheers mate, hope you're well.

Hi mate, you may feel as though you are 95% recovered but the recovery goes way beyond how you actually feel. There's a lot going on behind the scenes and unfortunately you do need to give it time. I'm over 3 months post op and mine is only just starting to look something like finished. Please be patient.

Hope your brother is OK mate.

hmm, not quite sure how to say this without sounding A) like an not a nice person or B) very patronising?

But trust me, you are not   95% recovered at 3 weeks out, at 3 weeks out your body is only just starting to heal internally really...... plus you have to remember that you can't really tell the final results until all the swelling has gone down and the scar tissue has broken up.

You may be right about wanting the second surgery (hard to tell without seeing), but you need to give it at least a couple of months before you do anything.    The frustration after surgery is normal in my experience, you spent a lot of cash getting something done and then in the first couple of weeks after surgery the problem can actually look worse than it did pre op!

Does your surgeon do free revisions?

blue... cheers mate, ye i know i jus had a bit of a out burst with my last comment but thats how i feel at the moment, dont get me wrong im quite happy with my result so far but im just a bit disapointed with my left side i feel its not as good as the right.. but benito did say he to be a lot more aggresive on the left so maybe it is swollen up??? and its like really hard under my left nipple hard to explain.. ???

king.. your grand bud your advice is a benifit either way! how do you know if its swollen?? i have no bruses at all anymore their all gone.. and is scar tissue like under the chest( i.e inside your body?) because as i said their isnt one mark on me chest and the incission wounds have healed so im kind of wondering is the scar tissue on the inside of your chest?..
no benito doent do free revisions..but i would say if i decided to get a revision it would be a lot cheaper but thats a long way ahead and might not even need 1.. i think im just going throgh the usual post op stuff..

cheers lads il post the pics later on

Irish, you will be fine. The hard lumpy stuff is scar tissue which eventually will settle down and start to break up and flatten. Like you my left side was worse and has taken the longest to recover. In 6 months I am sure you will not even be thinking about revisions!  ;)

Hi Irishlad. How is everything going? I read your thread and it sounds pretty good so far. I got a bit nervous about one side swelling, but it changed constantly over the first couple of months. I can´t get at the pictures here, cause I´m in an internet cafe and the computer is useless, but I hope everything went well and you are happy with the results. Once you have your followup with Benito he´ll be able to tell you a lot more about projected healing time.

Hope your brother is OK. James
