I say these Documentary guys are total scum, and it will cause tremendous pain to so many people.

Still, I believe in the law of karma, so if they do go ahead, woe to them.

I say lets get it out there. It's taken ten years for me to accept it let alone start to deal with it. If I can change one persons perception or encourage one guy to do something about his gyne then it'll be time well spent. I spoke to Flavia just before christmas and showed interest to go on this programme. I would say that this is long overdue.....

Okay, so your dealing with it, but you have not yet dealt with it is that correct? I notice this is your first post.

And you go on to say

If I can change one persons perception or encourage one guy to do something about his gyne then it'll be time well spent.

We all agree with that in principle, but if you are so heroic about it then why this is your first post?????

You also characterise co-operation with the project as to do with the wasting or otherwise of your time. When its the once off, no turning back,  nature of the loss of personal privacy that most sufferers would object to.

You showed enough interest in going on a TV programme, and none in posting on this board? Yet your first post is supportive of the shows producer?

None of this adds up. It does not have the ring of truth about it to my mind. I'll leave it up to other to decide, but I think this is an attempt by the production staff to give the impression that there are other guys out there who are going along with it, in an attempt to bring in some guys who might be sitting on the fence.

If that is the case it shows desperation, and it shows that the production staff are liars, and that they are quite happy to decieve to make their little show.

I'd suggest that if anyone is thinking of getting involved that they be careful.

I looked into the background of the company making this documentary.

They are responsible for the cheap tabloid sensationalist documentaries such as “The Boy Who Gave Birth to his Twin”, “Curse of the Mermaid Baby”, “The 80-year-old Children” and “The man who slept for 19 years” in channel 5s extraordinary people season.

Also the show is appearing on BBC3 which is an entertainment channel akin to channel 5.

So they are famous for circus like freak show documentaries that are purely cheap entertainment that say nothing of the facts of difficult problems.

Nothing wrong with being brave and exposing your problems to the "right people", those who would "sensitively" deal with your story and incorporate it into an intelligent, balanced and enlightening documentary.

But this isn’t it guys, not if their reputation is anything to go by.

My advise don't get sucked in- they'll hang you out to dry in the name of cheap entertainment...this is NO UK version of 60 minutes trust me.

I wouldn't trust these people with a barge pole they’ve been assholes in the past, they smell like assholes- I say they are assholes!

Harry.

I don't know what your 'problem' is regarding my opinion, perhaps If I knew that posting on this forum (which is meant to be supportive of guys with this condition) was going to induce such agressive comment I wouldn't have bothered.
For your information I have been reading the posts on this forum for years. Support from my family and friends has meant that I didnt feel the need to post anything until now but then lets face it, I don't have to explain myself to the likes of you.
Only half of your post makes sense. Perhaps you could look back over it and decipher if for me before I comment on the second half.
I do not work for the production company nor have anything to do with the recruitment of guys for the programme.
Perhaps I could remind you that It is my choice to post on this forum or not and whilst this is still a free country I will continue to do so. Take a look at yourself. Perhaps these feelings you are labelling me with are really your own subconscious, not yet dealt with issues surrounding your condition. Think about it.
Keith.

Keith,

My 'problem', as you choose to see it, is with devious people exploiting vulnerable ones. By the time this comes out i'll be cured, but I'm very mindful that others will not.

I am quite consciously pointing out to other board members the techniques used by production companies to make their programmes. This comes from years of experience in this business BTW,  so I do know what I'm talking about.

It's intended merely as a warning to others to tread carefully. That is all. Given your years of reading this board surely you can understand this?

Also, given that it was a first and only post, you can harldy claim offence as you have not established an identity yet. If you had posted elsewhere, I would not have had my suspiscions raised on this matter.

You are of course fully entitled to hold any opinion you wish.

Why not post your story on the boards? ... like you say, If it helps just one person with this condition it'll be worth it.

All the very best,
HarryO

I find it interesting that Flavia’s (from Gecko Productions) name and contact details appear on the www.Manboobs.co.uk website.  Initially I was supportive of the idea of her documentary, but if she is advertising on the manboobs site for volunteers it does make me wonder just what kind of documentary she is really planning.

I am a great believer in live and let live, but I personally find the manboobs website an affront to those of us who hate the affliction we have been cursed with.  It shows no compassion at all to our suffering.  I wonder what would happen if a website sprang up that sought to make fun of people with osteoporosis or alopecia (both of which can be related to male hormonal problems).

Unfortunately I tend to agree with you. It would be great to have a forthright and sensitive tv documentary about gyne but somehow  I just dont feel that gecko productions are going to produce that, especially when you look at their other shows.

Then again one can be too sensitive about these things, no ones forced to go on this show and awareness about this condition has to start somewhere I guess.

That’s a very valid point and of course you are right.

My concern is that those men with breasts, who are happy to laugh at their boobs and be laughed at by other people, are potentially setting all men with boobs up as people who are happy to be laughed at.

Maybe I am being too sensitive.  I have had my surgery and my boobs are gone so why should I worry?  However I will never, ever forget the jokes and the embarrassment I felt.  I wouldn’t wish that on any other man.
