11 days post-op pictures

Hi, I'm 11 days post op now and i had lipo only. Surgery was done on the N.H.S in the UK by the head plastic surgeon at my local hospital. I'm looking for some advice really as i still have very puffy nipples the same as before the op. I can see that my surrounding chest is flatter but my nipples still pertrude which is bothering me. I'm thinking that the surgeon should have performed incision as well but he said lipo only was needed. Before the op i checked the surgeon out and he performs a lot of gyno surgery so I'm not doubting his work but i feel like nothing has changed, i know I'm only 11 days pot op but I'm really disappointed with the results. Unfortunately i don't have any before pics, think i got caught up in the excitement of getting rid of the problem.

The protrusion of the nipples is caused by the glands (+ sometimes also fat) so I don't know what your surgeon was thinking.
He'll probably tell you to be patient and to come back in several months. Just talk to him and say that you're convinced that there is gland there. If he's an honest guy, he'll give you an excision for free, or at least at a cheaper price.

I replied to another one of your topics in the UK section a week or so ago...... I said that my guess was that your chest would look less flabby but the puffy nipples would remain due to the gland not being fully removed.......................... I think really your pictures confirm my suspicions.

To me your chest doesn't look massively out of proportion with the rest of your body, or not in pictures provided anyway.  However I can see why you are frustrated because you have gone through an operation designed purely to boost confidence and improve the way you look and the results are less than they could have been. 
I know this exact feeling with the NHS and trying to get them to fix things is a nightmare; it would almost be better if they had a blanket policy of not performing 'cosmetic' operations, at least that way we would know what standard of care to expect!

Just out of interest which hospital / doctor you were with..... I'm guessing other guys would like to know so they can avoid wasting time!

yeah i can recall your repilies kingboob. It was sunderland royal hospital. as for the surgeon i can't recall his name, i have it on a confomation letter but not on me at the min. i was assured he performs gyne surgery regularly. I have a followup appointment with him in around 5 weeks and i will make him aware how i feel. i just want it sorted asap.

Thanks for the replies so far guys. When i pinch my nipples i can feel gland the same as i could when my gyne started when i was about 12, i'm praying that when i return for my follow up that they offer to completely sort it out because i'd say i feel worse now than i did before the lipo knowing that iv'e gone thru all this and it's still there and i can't afford to go private.

Out of interest, say i go back for my follow up (6 weeks post op) and the surgeon says ok i'll take the gland out. Is there a certain amount of time i'd have to wait before that could be done i.e no revision within x amount of months?

I appreciate your comments fitnisfrk but unfortunately it is down to money. I had a good think about the whole situation and i realized when i went to the hospital for my consultation way back in January of this year, the guy who originally assessed me was not the surgeon but a DR on his behalf. It actually started where i always knew i had gyne since i was 12 but in December 2008 i was having pains around my left nipple and that's the original reason i was examined because as far as i was aware the NHS in the UK wouldn't perform the surgery due to it being of an 'aesthetic nature' i was once told. It was in the examination the doc said 'what bothers you more... the look and feel of the breast or the pain?' when i said the look and how it had affected me he actually said to me 'well we can help you, we can remove it if you like?'. I was shocked at the understanding of the doc. I remember him feeling around my chest and saying there's a large amount of breast tissue and not much gland. So I'm wondering if this is a genuine mistake and miss diagnosis. He did not pinch my nipples he just pressed his fingers into my chest and moved his fingers left to right and up and down.

I don't think I will get ever get surgery, but if I did, you can be very sure that I would save up first and then get myself to a specialist.  It never hurts to have options, right?
