I would suggest consulting with a few different surgeons. Try to find one who specializes in gyne surgery. I agree that leaving the gland and just doing lipo is a no-go, you'll just end up with more frustration. Even if you have to travel, find a surgeon with a 'black belt' in gyne surgery. Most of them do remote consultations also, so you can do everything via email or phone.

Just my 2 cents.

I agree, if you're spending 5k+ on a surgery and its something important like your body, I'd be willing to travel a pretty long distance for a very experienced surgeon.

My personal view is that when I perform gyne surgery, I aim for 100% correction -- I do not start with a goal of just 60 - 70% improvement.  And when i go into surgery, I am prepared to do whatever it takes, lipo or excision or usually both, in order to get the best possible result and to do right by my patient.  And revision surgery is still surgery -- but made more difficult because of the scar tissue resulting from the initial surgery.

Better to go to a gyne specialist, perhaps pay a bit more, and get it done right the first time around.

A word to the wise!!!

You've seen the pictures of people whose main concerns are just puffy nipples?  The reason they are puffy is because of the increased glandular tissue underneath the areola.  You may have seen this glandular tissue in pictures after it has been cut out.

But what it comes down to is this....most men are not going to be happy with their gyne surgery if all the doctor does is lipo.  Why?  Because that's generally not the whole cause of most men's gynecomastia.  In most men, the problem is two-fold; increased tissue in the breast, as well as too much fat.  If all you do is suck out the fat, it's not going to solve the problem of increased tissue.  And if you don't address the problem of the increased tissue, you aren't going to get rid of your gynecomastia satisfactorily.

Any doctor that would expect you to be happy with only partial improvement of your problem shouldn't be doing the surgery, IMO.

When considering gyne surgery, ONLY go to a plastic surgeon with tons of experience in gynecomastia surgery.  The more experience, the better.  And for sure....do NOT go to just a general surgeon for gynecomastia surgery.

I agree with all of the above. Seek out a surgeon who specializes in gyne. I wish I had.

I was in the same boat.. Lipo is not the answer.. you need both. trust me.. mine looks almost like your's before lipo.. there is a 70% improvement but the nipple are still puffy and the still dont look quite right in t shirt after 4 months.
