Growth spurt

I have over the course of this lifetime experienced "growth spurts" of my breasts.  Usually starts with slight pain, ache then swelling that shows a marked increase in size, followed by some shrinkage.  Always ends up larger.  I can recall four of five of these periods over my life, beginning with puberty.  Currently at age 53 experiencing # five or six.

Anyone else follow this pattern?

Hi i understand what you mean i had a dull pain around 3-4 times in the last few years when they seem to grow slightly and around 5 years ago i was over 23 stone in weight and wore a 44A size bras i am 6ft 3 inchs tall by the way and my current weight is just over 19 stone and my bra size is 40A/B mostly in a B cup size now has this ever happened to any other people out there as i was told by my doctor to lose weight to get rid of my Gyne not the other way round not that it bothers me now just live with it thanks Kevo

My weight has been pretty stable, actually lost a bit over the last 6 months... this is happening independent of weight gain.  Beyond acceptance with it... just curious and interesting.  My wife used to complain of the same in her younger years as hers continued to grow thru out young adulthood.

An increase of sensitivity could be an indication that something is causing the breast tissue to be stimulated. It might be a good time to see an Endocrinologist.

The down side of this is that if the situation is transient (as your history would suggest) it may well normalize again before you can get a good diagnosis. If that happens, then you are out the cost of a referral and some lab work with nothing gained. Then again, it may be your best opportunity to finally know what is going on.

The questions boil down to: How badly do you want to know? and: How much of a gambler are you.

i get the same thing. ill go a month or 2 with no growth or feelings and i think it has stopped. then ill get pain tingling & itching on my breasts & the growth. Last week, i had more pain than ever & i grew a Full Cup Size in about a week. this is insane. im nearly a full C cup and i was totally flat 1 1/2 years ago

Assuming you haven't simultaneously gained a lot of weight, this is something to be looked at -- would recommend a consultation with an endocrinologist -- it may be a hormone problem or possibly a side effect of medications you are taking -- or something else.  But you should investigate it.

This happens to me too. It is due to the level of testosterone decreasing (which is perfectly normal for all males after age 30!) Unfortunately this seems to trigger breast growth in some of us!
 like doc said, get referred to an endocrinologist as some hormone problems (in rare cases) can be caused by tumours.

This is a pattern common throughout the life of a male mammal. Gland tissue subject to hormone stimulation becomes tender, swells, and grows. Pain, ache, and gland swelling are common Symptoms of Gynecomastia. Once the stimulation ends, swelling can decrease. Unfortunately, what gland has grown remains. For many, the gland actual growth may not be much. But for others, the gland is enough to result in a contour deformity.

Through out our lives this hormone imbalance can have many Problems Causing Gynecomastia and Breast Growth. The earliest is at birth with the mother's hormones from while in the womb being a factor. Puberty is the most common time for male breast growth during the raging hormone imbalances. Other medical problems can be intermittent or reveal themselves over time. As men get older, their testosterone imbalance can then kick in resulting in new breast growth. Of course weight is also a factor, but this is normally not something that normally causes the tenderness and aching.  Yet I have seen fat only (gland contribution was trivial) gynecomastia with tender breasts from the mechanical trauma of that individual constantly pinching his nipples to flatten them.

Those with such cycles of breast growth should be evaluated by an experienced Endocrinologist to explore if there are factors that need to be stabilized.

hello everyone...i have been looking for a sensation which could cause breast growth all over this forum....i dont know if i am in the right place...well i had gyno from about the age of 13 or 14.... but i started experiencing this sensation a year ago under my right chest nipple.... the sensation is like something trying to come out...it comes and goes..i dont know how to explain this sensation but.... i think it increased the rate of breast growth...i donno if it is because i gained too much fat than actual gyno growth....my left chest was compartively smaller....it was much smaller before that year i mentioned....and i dont actually get this sensation on my left side as often as i get it on my right....maybe its PSYCHOLOGICAL but...

a couple of weeks ago...may 30th... i had my gyno surgery done....i didn see an endocrinologist... had my blood tested for somethings...everything looks fine....but now that i have that sensation again on my right chest again..like something pushing out frm nipple...comes and goes.. and i fear i my gyno will come back on my right side....is this possible? please reply....

While I am not and do not pretend to a specialist in this field, I have done a great deal of research into the causes and effects leading to Gynecomastia. Please include some additional details about your surgery, did the surgeon completely remove the breast gland or simply preform liposuction?

 I am 51 and my bmi is in the center of the good range. I have never being over weight. last year I seem to have gone throu my first growth spurt. I noticed my nipples were more sensitive than usual. the harmonics of a bumpy road I would feel them bounce or putting something in my shirt pocket would send my nipples in to sensory overload. not to mention the tingling feeling that I still occasionly feel in the mornings. this went on for a couple monthes but has since subsided exept for the occasional morning tingling. Ive noticed my nipple now always protrude by about 3/8". last week I measured myself and came up with 33and 35. I do not take and meds so it appears to be a age related and proably lower T. I am in the process of getting my 50 year pysical and told my DR about it and I see she ordered lab work including T and E levels checked but I did not see the results yet.

At these times, the seat belt in the car or truck is a real enemy. There are clips that will reposition the belt, sometimes these can be a major help.

Being a A cup  size has never being the issue with seat belts. its certian parts of the road and long bridge that where the vechile sorta hops witch causes a bounce.

I wish I could offer some advise! I grew all the way to a double "D"  but the first growth all happen to many years ago to remember! I was I kid with gynecomastia and had "B"  cups that just grew after I lost my testicals. 

I do know that you don't want to do anything about them until they are done growing!
