Hello
I am 31 years old and suffered from Gyno since as long as I can remember. 6 months ago I received surgery in Scotland where I was told bot tissue and fat was removed. Although I have definitely noticed a reduction I am gutted that it hasn't worked. The right side is larger now and I had hoped that my areola's would reduce significantly but unfortunately they haven't. The right areola is still puffy and large and the left is now sunken.
I am aware it can take up to a year to see overall results but I cant see it improving over the next six. What are your thoughts on this.
I've managed to get some photo's up so hopefully you can view the links. I'm pretty disappointed overall, The final pic is my before pic.

thank you

I agree with your assessment --- the results are poor and asymmetric, there is residual tissue on the right and a crater deformity on the left.  And at six months, you are probably looking at close to the final result.

Your options?  Return to your surgeon to discuss what he could do to improve things.  I would also strongly recommend a second opinion, preferably by a plastic surgeon who has demonstrated significant expertise in gyne surgery.  You may need to travel for this expertise -- but it would be worthwhile.

Thank you for your reply. I will get back to the surgeon and I am looking around to see who I can get a second opinion from. I feel like I am back at the start,  gutted!
Do you think revision surgery is likely to achieve a positive result
Thank you

Sorry to have been so blunt -- but you will probably have to have a revision in order to achieve better results.  Bear in mind, revision surgery is more difficult and less predictable due to the presence of scar tissue which inevitably results from any type of surgery. Therefore, your goals should be improvement -- not perfection.

That being said, in my own practice, I have revised hundreds of patients who were operated on by other surgeons.  There are very few times when I will reject a patient because they have been so drastically disfigured that there is nothing I can do.  You do not fit into that category.  I believe with the right expert involved, you could achieve a much better improvement.

The results are not optimal clearly. The issue with gynecomastia is that is is easy for any surgeon to say that they have extensive experience in the treatment of gynecomastia but in reality there are very few surgeons with extensive experience with gynecomastia and fewer with experience with secondary problems which incidentally are harder to correct.. I always tell patients the concepts involved are very simple .The concepts are no more difficult to understand than placing paint pigments on a pallet then transferring the pigments to a canvass to represent a subject. The devil is in the details.

I agree with Drs. Pensler and Jacobs that the results are not the best. While I would ordinarily suggest that you return to your original surgeon, your results suggest to me that you might be better served by seeking out another surgeon with more experience, or at least one who could show many examples of better results. Take your time.

Dr jacobs, blunt is exactly what i need. Thanks all for your replies. I have contacted a surgeon in England who will see me in 10 months time. He wants me to wait for the scar tissue to soften. Im reluctant to go back to the first surgeon
