I am wondering if it's ok to sleep on your stomach immediately after surgery, or will that cause any damage to the healing process?

Or would it help since it would compress your chest even more?

The compression isn't a problem, but if you have to put your arms up around a pillow, you might find it uncomfortable. Also, too much motion early on could stimulate bleeding.  On your back or sides for a few days may be more comfortable and safer.
