I was just wondering how long it takes to develop under the nipple and if 6 months after surgery my doctor would consider the kenalog shots. Yjanks

The scarring process continues over the course of the year following surgery.  If the tissue under the nipple is thickened, I will typically inject it at the six month follow-up visit.  I don't usually do it before then, since this thickening often subsides on its own, and since Kenalog does have some minor risks.  Speak with your surgeon at your next visit if it's been six months.

Agree with Dr. Silverman.  Usually I will not inject any suspected scar tissue before 4-6 months after surgery.  Before then, some of what you see may be swelling -- which will disappear slowly on its own.

After six months, whatever one sees and feels is usually scar tissue -- and that is amenable to treatment with kenalog or the like.
