Dear respected doctors,

After how many weeks can one go back to normal after surgery.  Meaning, running, lifting swimming etc..

Whats the longest period one should wear compression vest after surgery?

How many weeks should one massage after gyne operation?

Please advise your input and comments.  Thank you.

The questions you've asked are items that are handled differently by different surgeons.  Most of us recommend compression for 4 to 6 weeks.  Those who recommend massage will suggest starting when it's comfortable to massage without much pain.  As far as activity, I encourage my patients to initiate activity relatively early, while other surgeons recommend no exercise for up to six weeks.  (I have a lengthy discussion of training after surgery on my website.) These are all questions that you should address with your surgeon.

Good luck,
