Here is my story, Ill try to write up as much detail as I can.  For my surgery, I was hiding it from absolutely everyone and man it pretty tough.  I live with two brothers and my mother plus I’m the middle child.  In order to have an excuse for why I would be gone for my surgery, I said that I was going to Ottawa to visit a friend and would be back the next day.  My surgery was booked for Aug 31 at 12:30pm.  I had to arrive at the hospital at 10, but I was 20mins late.  Anyways I go to the hospital, which wasn’t as big as I expected and went to the surgical daycare on the 2nd floor and filled up some forms (If your hiding your surgery from everyone, you better get a fake name and number because they need one for emergency purpose).  Since I wasn’t expecting them too need an emergency contact, I gave them a friends number.  I also told the guy that I live by myself and since it was the middle of the week all the people that are close to me are working and I didn’t want to bother them to pick me up after my surgery. (Note: the hospital doesn’t expect ppl to hid this surgery from friends and family).  After I filled up the forms, they gave me a bag and told me too take off my clothes and wear two gowns and these blue things over my shoes.  So I did what they asked.  After that they told me to sit in the patient waiting area and wait for a nurse to come.  Since I was late the nurse came right away and she took my height, weight, and blood pressure, and asked some health questions like are u allergic to blah blah blah.  And remember not to eat nothing after midnight cuz some guy was sent home cue he drank water.  After the nurse did all that she told me to wait in the patient waiting room.  In the waiting room there were a lot of elderly ppl there waiting for surgery, and some young ppl, so im guessing these are not that this room is for and surgery procedure being done.  I waited in there for about 2 hours and I saw fielding walk by to tell a patients family how the procedure went and while he walked by told me he would see me soon.  2 mins l8ter another nurse came and she called my name and she told me too follow her.  At this moment I was really nervous and thinking to myself “what am I doing”, but I paid and cant turn back.  She walked be into the surgery area of the hospital and introduce be to the anaesthetics doctor.  He asked me some brief questions while they were cleaning the surgery room.  In the room was a woman, a male nurse, and the anaesthetics doctor.  The room was pretty cold and they laid me down on the surgery bed and they put this hot blanket on me.  They then strapped my leg and the anaesthetics doctor told me he was going to put an iv in.  This was the most painful part because my veins weren’t showing and he kept missing, so he use my other hand and it went in.  After that fielding came in and told me to sit up and he drew the lines on my moobs. And he told me how he was going to do the procedure and after that all I remember is waking up in another surgery room.  This room had like 6 female nurses.  I checked my chest and it was wrapped with foam, and it wasn’t hurting too much, but I was a bit talkative and drowsy (I guess it was the drugs).  I was in that room and the nurse gave me water and asked if I wanted a freezy.  I was probly in that room for like 20mins until they moved me too my room.  I had a personal nurse who was very nice.  (if your staying over night I suggest your bring 17 dollars and 25 cents for a personal t.v. cause time flew by with the tv).  From that time till nine in the mourning, I got two meals and a nurse came by like 4 times to check my temperature, blood pressure, and heartbeat.  After breakfast (at 9) they told me I can start dressing up and can leave.  So I left and I tried on like 3 different clothing’s too see which would hide the pads the best, and it was my button up shirt.  Also for extra security I wore my windbreaker.  Anyways when I got home my brothers were at work and I tested to see if my mom would notice anything.  And she didn’t.  When I got to my room, I quickly wore my sweater and I jacked up the AC downstairs so It wouldn’t look weird that I would wear the sweater.  When my brothers got back home from work, they didn’t notice anything and plus I was sleeping till like 8pm, I woke up and I quickly went downstairs to sit down and watched tv (Prison Break lol).  After that I went upstairs on the computer (again so I can sit down) and was surfing the web.  At 11pm I went to sleep and jacked up the AC in my room lol.  Right now I’m two days post up.  The weekend is going to be tough cuz both my brothers are going to be home and my mom is the only one going to work.  I do have a back up story to hide it (like my back hurts and I just wrapped it up so it would heal and the doctor told me to see him on Tuesday.. something like that.)  Hopefully I make it through to Monday and on that day I’m going to stay at my friends house till 10pm and go home and sleep right away.
TO THE PPL HIDING THIS FROM THEIR FAMILY. UNLESS YOU HAVE A SMALL FAMILY OR YOU’RE THE OLDEST CHILD IT IS GOING TO BE TOUGH TO HIDE THIS THING.  RIGHT NOW IM STILL NOT EXCITED CUZ I HAVENT SEEN MY CHEST PLUS I HAVE TO GET THROUGH THE WEEKEND.  IT WOULD HAVE BEEN SO MUCH EASIER IF I HAD SOMEONE TO HELP ME HIDE IT.  ALSON ON THE MORNING OF THE SURGERY YOUR MOST LIKELY GOING TO WANT TOO TALK YOURSELF OUT OF IT, AND IF YOU REALLY WANT THIS DONE THEN DON’T, CUZ FOR ME THE WORST THAT CAN HAPPEN IS I HAVE NO MOOBS AND MY BROTHERS FIND OUT, WHICH IS WAY BETTER THEN HAVING MOOBS AND NO ONE KNOWING HOW MUCH IT BOTHERS ME.

Oh yea when you go to your pre-op consultation I suggest you pay, cause you can’t pay for the surgery over the phone.  And when you get off the subway at Dundas west, the street car is free to ride, just ask someone there which goes to Marion street.  And when your coming back from the hospital and you pay for the streetcar (2.50)  it is free to take the subway from the dundas west entrance.  That’s about it, Feel free to ask questions.  And wish me luck.

I'm just wearing two t shirts right now and it seems to be good enough concealment. My family was kind of curious as to why I wasn't so mobile as I usually am, I just told them I hurt my back at my friends and they've seemed to accept it. They're a little nosey, but that's to be expected when they're concerned. Just as long as they do ask to see the injury though, I'll be fine.
Couple more days to go before these damn pads come off- can't wait.

The first 3 weeks are the hardest to hide the op. Like Creek said, they dont notice the bandage but when you start walking slow and your trying  not to lift your hands above your head they  see that right of way. Hang in there !  Tell them you pulled a rib muscle ;)
I wish I had done it when I was younger. All those pool partys wasted...shit!

yup

Ok i just got the pads taken off on tuesday, and the good news is that my moobs dont stick up and im flat.  I serously gotta start losing weight now.  The thing that i notice is that my upper chest doesn't show anymore.  I tried to flex but it didnt show, and before the surgery my upper chest was pretty big (anyone expierence this).  My chest is flat, but the thing is that there is no definition at all (is this normal).  It looks plain, like my nipples are in the middle, I guess if i do full chest workouts now that it will start to show.  Also i dont kno if it is the fat he left in or if its swollen, my chest feels really soft, softer then fat. Has anyone experienced these's things? Also today was my first shower in 5 days !!! One last question, any tips on how to put the tensor on by yourself, cuz the nurse put it on really tight with super compression (it was annoying but heh) and i haven't been able to get it on that tight again.  But im super happy that i can wear any clothing i want.  Im on the other side now guys!!! :) Just gotta hit the gym now. L8tz

P.S. With a thick shirt, the tensor cant be noticed at all, and with a light shirt the only thing noticeable is the back cuz it looks like your wearing a bra.

For you Fielding patients: Congrats on the courage to get this far!

Did anyone have glanular tissue taken from an inscision on the lower half of the nipple? If so has it healed without noticable scarring? The price you guys have quoted seems amazing if you are happy with the results!

12 days post op

The pain is absolutely gone. The thing that bothers me is the my chest has gotten bigger, i dont kno if it is swelling or fat that came back.  When i read other threads and ppl say   that they are swelling they usually mean lumbs and when i touch my chest i cant feel lumbs.  When i touch my right chest the nipple area is pretty soft but like 1 inch on top its hard and also the nipple goes in when i bend down to pick something up from the floor.  And the left is worse then the right.  Its softer (i dont kno if this part is fat or swelling) at a much longer radius then the right and when i push in at the hard parts its accompanied with fat (or swelling again dont kno). Also before the surgery i had done alot of upperchest work outs (could this cause a wierd shape?). But the best thing is that the slanted gland part that shows through the shirt (you kno wat i mean the part everyone hates) is absolutely gone.  But wat i described is that NORMAL? Cuz it doesnt feel like swelling too much.  Is swelling and fat differentialable?

Hey BigT,

Has it gotten any better since?
How are you making out now, any pain?
Hows the bruising comming along? Did your lumps subside at all?
