 Is there  a legit reason why PS would have to  feel my testicles   during an examination  for gyne,  did this happen to any of you?

But why would a PS need to examine for testicular cancer or lumps or anything else? That is not their forte. I'd expect an endo to do all that but not a PS.

Your right. That is not their Forte. But they are docs. Possibly he was looking for an obvious cause of the gyne and didn't want to miss an obvious case of cancer. But I must admit, I have never heard of this before at a PS consult.

 this happened to me on Tuesday, it  just  did not seem quite  right,   I am a bit  upset now if  the touching was   not part of  normal consultation

An examination of the testicles is an essential part of the male Gynecomastia exam.  I am looking at the size and feeling for masses.  Small size testicles can be a symptom of Klinefelter's Syndrome and other Hypogonadism problems that also have Gynecomastia as a factor.  Unfortunately I have found many patients over the years with undiagnosed endocrine problems that then needed treatment and stabilization before their gynecomastia surgery.  I have even found patients coming to me with breast regrowth after other surgeons' gynecomastia surgery.  The patients had small testicles and undiagnosed problems that needed the endocrine workup stabilization, and then I was able to perform the revision surgery.

That is how I was able to uncover the endocrine problem of patients such as this Klinefelter Patient and the many others who had undiagnosed endocrine problems. When a patient has Red Flags such as small testicles, they are then sent for an Endocrinology work-up. 

My plastic surgery practice brings me patients from around the world giving me a very nice exposure to a wide range of Endocrinologists.  My lectures about gynecomastia also gives me the opportunity to discuss this condition with many Endocrinologists specializing in the treatment of gynecomastia.  I have been speaking with Endocrinologists about gynecomastia for over 30 years.  Almost all have told me that good screening by history and physical examination is the standard of care for a gynecomastia patient considering surgery.  Over the years, a number of Endocrinologists specializing in the treatment of gynecomastia helped me set up a series of Red Flags for evaluation instead of automatically sending each gynecomastia patient for testing.  For some, an endocrinology evaluation helps set their mind at ease and is a great idea.  For others I mandate it before surgery because of my findings during my evaluation of the patient.

Sounds like your PS was being thorough.  Regardless, I wouldn't be that concerned, if your PS is crushing on you maybe he will be extra diligent . or give you a great rate . 

Sorry for joking, but being serious, if gyne has given you a complex about your sexuality, you might want to see a therapist in support of your operation.  If you don't know what your doctor is doing, ask him/her.  If he says copping a feel, warn him that he might catch a case of broken nose.

The doc got her before me but my sons doc touched him to.  She was looking for tumors, sex cord tumors she said because they may cause an increase in the esto levels which can cause gyne.

is this site a joke or something? its clear that dr bermants office owns and operates it... if you state your opinion about him or his office your post gets deleted?

1st of all, Dr Bermant doesn't own OR operate this site. He is a dedicated member (just like me or anyone else here) that is gracious enough to give his insite on gynecomastia (from a surgeons perspective).

2nd, I did not see anyone post anything directly pointing fingers at Dr Bermant. Dr Bermant, from what I could see, simply offered a professional answer in direct response to the question. This question was legitimate since it happened to the poster.

This whole thing of post deletion intrigues me. I have read several posts on here by different members that have been deleted within a few hours.  One of mine was deleted when I simply asked the question if posts were being deleted.  Mine was a simple and open question, but within 2 hours it was gone.

I’ve noticed that some of the posts that have been deleted are critical of the 2 plastic surgeons who contribute to this site.  Don’t get me wrong .... I’m not in any way saying the criticism was justified, but I wonder why those posts were deleted when libellous criticism of a UK Plastic Surgeon called Levick is left alone.  I would have thought that an even handed approach should be taken across the board.

I’m now wondering if this post of mine will last any longer than my previous one or whether Merle will be open enough to answer this simple question.

he could have been checking to see if you had shrunken testicles, which can be a symptom of impaired liver function (which can also cause gyne).

yea my post in this thread revealed some truthful thoughts on doctor B... and it got deleted because everyone that comes to this site has to be brainwashed into thinking Doctor B is the ONE MAN YOU MUST SEE...

'Brainwashed'? Come on dude, do you think that the users of this site are that naive? It doesn't take a genius to figure out that Dr. Bermant is not the 'only' PS that can perform GRS with good results. However, Dr. Bermant has a 'Proven' track record with GRS. Would you rather go to a PS that you know 'nothing' about, or to a PS that many people on this site recommend? You do the math dude! 

if he cares so much about ALL OF US SUFFERERS why does he charge almost 7 grand when most others charge much much less? if he CARED. he would do it for 3 grand... but whatever. im sure this will be deleted to

Dr. Bermant, like all other doctors, is a business man dude. He is in it to make a buck... I do not know Dr. Bermant personally, but from what I have seen and read about his handiwork, he seems to be a very talented surgeon. As such, he should be well compensated. Yes, No?

If you can find another PS to perform GRS for quote "much less", then go for it dude. However, if you end up with craters in your chest, don't crawl back here looking for sympathy!
