Can your insurance provide any help to pay for the surgery expense

If you have insurance such as (HMO here in U.S.), can it pay for any portion of the total expense for the gyne surgery including pathology?  I know it's unlikely, but I'd like to know if anyone was able to get any help from their insurance.
