I'm 1 day post-op and my drains have this annoying pain in my armpits.

I've had so far about 4 percocets every 4 hours
I'm thinking about taking some more to take the pain off these armpit drain things.

I visited my doctor today and he said I should only consume more percocets if I need to.
I feel like I want to because I don't want to feel this pain anymore in my armpits.

I really don't care about the side effects

Does anyone here have any pain too in their armpits from the drain?

but so far, it's a good sign that I'm not draining a lot of blood 1st day post op. After draining about like maybe, 7-8 times after surgery.

My doctor will take off the drains Monday morning and apply the compression garment.

K, the pain really is really annoying.
I've decided to take the percocet pill.
Drank it down with water, and ate rice and chicken right after.

So far, 15-20 minutes have past and feel no pain.
I'll take another percocet pill in 4 hours if the pain comes back.
I'm feeling really relaxed right now.

I'll just be sitting in my chair and watch some movies.
I'll also play a late night online poker sesh after the movie.

Tomorrow, I'm going to take a walk 2nd day post op because my doctor doesn't want me to lay down or sit down all day.
If it rains, I'm going to just walk in circles in my room.

So far, everything is good.

Congrats on getting the surgery done.  Have you seen your new chest yet?

Also, can't really comment on the drains, but I do hear that they're a pain in the ass.  Are you taking any arnica montana?  I have my surgery in 2 weeks and the doctor suggested I get it for bruising and swelling.

Thank You
Yes, I had a glimpse of my new chest when I had my chest re-wrapped with the bandage.
A big difference, I look forward to exercising and weight lifting in December.

No, I'm not taking arnica montana.
I've been prescribed percocets by my doctor
I do see bruises by my armpit. I don't really feel any swelling. I'll let it heal on it's own.

Anyways,
Be relaxed and calm down on the day of your surgery
everything will be alright

Also
I remember my doctor saying that if I take more percocets that more blood will drain? even though I have stopped draining a lot of blood.
Has anyone experienced this?

I'm going to take more percocet pills if the pain comes back because it really takes the edge off.

Anyways, replies are appreciated.

I don't recall having pain in my armpits when the drains were in.  Actually there was no pain whatsoever caused by the drains.  I was fortunate enough not to need any pain medication after surgery.  It was only until about two weeks after when I started to become more active did pain seem to move in.  That's when I took ibuprofen but nothing needing a prescription.  It's a huge relief when you get the drains out.  Congrats on getting the surgery!

WTF!
I don't recall having pain in my armpits when the drains were in.  Actually there was no pain whatsoever caused by the drains.

I called my doctor's office this morning

They told me it's normal
The stinging pain where the drains are stitched to the armpits is normal

Whew!
I thought something bad was going on in my armpit
Unfortunately, I'm going to have to go through this armpit stinging pain til' 10/24/11 Monday  >:( :'( >:( :'( >:( :'(

I don't know how some people can move around or go back to work with these drains out of their armpits?!?!
The armpits is a sensitive area!

This stinging armpit pain has got me leaning my back forward with bad posture, so I can walk comfortably back and forth to the bathroom because of these damn drains that stitched to my damn sensitive armpits!
ARGH!!! >:(
I HATE THIS PAIN!
THIS PAIN HAS ME DOING LIMITED MOVEMENTS WITH MY ARMS!
