You can generally start to exercise (cardio and light weight training) 2-3 weeks afterward, and gradually increase the weights.  If you feel a lot of pain, that's a natural sign that you shouldn't be doing it.

Recovery after surgery depends on the problem to be treated, surgical technique, skill of your surgeon, how you heal, and other factors best discussed with your surgeon.  This is surgical sculpture and tissues must be given a chance to heal before stressed.
