Huge post op tip to all....laxatives

You'll want to take some laxatives or something.  Or eat a ton of apples.

The morphine and percocets get you stopped up pretty bad.

That was the worst part of post op...much worse than the general "pain".  I thought I was going to die.

wait until you're hooked on morhpine and percs...thats the worst part...

i opted for tylenol 3's, which i took none of for my first surgery...

i hope to continue without them for my revision...bad stuff to take i think

I took about 5 or 6 percocets over 2 days. 

I took one when teh pain wasn't so bad.  It just made me feel drowsy.  Not sure how people get hooked on it.  Didn't do much for me.

Even when they gave me morphine immediately post op....didn't make me feel warm and fuzzy just slightly less pain.

Yes I believe that getting constipated for a day or so is very common after a general anaesthetic.  However I, like many others, have found that if you give it a day or so your body sorts itself out.  I wouldn’t take laxatives unless I was “bunged up” for maybe 3 days or more and even then I would prefer to use nature’s way of lots of bran like porridge.  If I ever need a general anaesthetic again I will go straight onto the porridge from day one post op.

probably good idea.  one time i had general it stopped my traffic for three days till i mentioned it and they fed me some organic motor oil or another.
