Hey....

I'm curious as to how many of us drink alcohol. If you do, how much? Occasional, at social events, regular ( every day ), binge, heavy, very heavy, alcoholic? Do U think that U drink as a means of coping with Gyne?

I'll start....

"Hi, my name is John!"   Hiiiii John!   Hehe.... JK!

I developed Gyne about the age of 9 or so. Started drinking when I was in Junior High School ( age 13-14 ). I consider myself an alcoholic. Have used alcohol for about 27 years, on and off. Mostly 'on'. Have been in rehab once ( self-admitted ). Quite the experience! Nothing what I thought it would be like.

Anyways, last summer I was drinking like a fish. $300+ a month. Got up to 227 lbs. and felt like I was dieing :-/. All I did was sit at the computer and drink beer. Day in and day out. This is not good let me tell you! So.... one day I decided this is no way to live life. I joined the local Gym, joined Weight Watchers and started to eat healthy and now have my drinking under control. I don't think that I could ever give it up though. It's nice to have a few cool-one's on my off days from work.

Now, I'm 196 lbs. and feeling much better than a year ago. Still have some ways to go with the weight loss, but lots of time I've got.

Geeze, this is turning out to be a long post. So sorry....

Yeah, so, if you don't mind, I'm curious as to how many of us have been affected by alcohol.

Thanks and Cheers!

John.

I drink heavily 2-3 nights per week.

Started with drugs and alcohol at about 14, got heavy into drugs (all kinds, all ways) at about 16-19. Stopped the drugs (except an occasional joint) not because of a self conscience reason or anything, just that one day I didn't feel like doing it anymore.

I try to live a pretty healthy life to counter-balance the drinking. I workout regulary and eat a fairly healthy diet. Vitamins also.

Don't plan on giving up the drinking. I do, however, go through some "health freak" phases where I workout extensively, and I cut the drinking back considerably. I'm figuring that since I recently had a successful operation, I'll be more motivated to workout and probably cut the drinking back.

I'm in the wine business so wine at dinner has been part of my life for more than 10 years.  I was 2-3 glasses 5x week, but now I'm down to 2x the past 6 months in an effort to cut out the empty calories.

I keep a journal of my caloric intake and gym workouts.
Included in my caloric intake is a record of all the alcohol consumed so I know exactly how much I drank in any given day, week or month. I currently average about 20 beers or drinks a week (mostly beers). Of those, Monday through Thursday I drink an average of 1 or 2 a day with a small amount of weed. The remainder of the 20 are drank on the weekend. I rarely if ever deviate from this pattern because I used to be a full blown alcoholic (about 10-15 a day every day) and am careful not to "inch-up". I did the AA thing and stayed off everything for over twenty years. I started drinking again about 2 1/2 years ago and have stayed on this pattern since. This may sound like alot to some of you guys but for me it has not been a problem in any way. I am almost in the best shape of my life at 54 years old because I diet and exercise religiously. Since this past Christmas I have lost over 40 pounds of mostly fat. In fact, the reason I searched for and found this forum was because I preplanned to have the surgery only after I got as lean as possible so that there would be no question that I needed the surgery if it was still there after the fat loss. Well, it's still there, albeit not as bad but bad enough. Weed really helps to keep my alcohol consumption really low during the week because after just a few puffs and a beer I get really f**ked up and satisfied. I never smoke when I go out because I can't drive good when I'm stoned so that's why my weekend drinking is  higher. If I stay home on the weekend my drinking is limited to to 10-15 for the entire week. I love Becks Premium light because it has only 64 calories a bottle.
I wrote this long narrative to let anyone interested to know that it's possible continue with your moderate drinking and weed and still get in great shape and stay out of trouble as long as you take of business at the gym and in real life. If anyone wants any further info about my journal, exercise regimen or diet just PM me.
BTW, thanks to this forum I have scheduled  an appointment with Dr. Sanders in L.A. for late July (next month).

Drank in moderation from age 20 to 25. Rarely from then to age 30.  None since, now age 67.

I've heard only great things about Sanders. Seems to be pretty popular for that area.

I drank quite a bit at uni, but that was pretty normal as compared to people around me.

Since leaving last year drinking as only been on night outs and socialising and has become a lot more moderate. I guess a current average would be 2-3 pints a week.
