A question about anasthetic???

I have a question for anyone who's had surgery. How out of it are you an hour after the surgery? The reason I'm asking is because I rented a hotel across the street from the hospital, and I'm wondering if the doc would let me walk over there by myself. Or, do you think that is out of the question? I was surprised that the doc said I don't need supervision, just to be next to a phone.

i was in the rec room for 30 minutes and i was good as new after..no pain or anything, and than a few hours later the soreness set in

Once Id woken up I was awake, I couldnt have walked anywhere because of the throbbing in my chest, the drip and the drains though! I was very sleepy after that though the nurses woke me up every hour or so to check on me and change the drip etc.

They kept me in for 48 hours after. An hour after sounds dodgy to me.
