Hi there,

I'm 8 weeks post op and doing fine. My right side is perfect and painless but my lef is still a little tender/swollen and quite tight when I lift my left arm above my head or reach backwards. Is it recommended that I stretch that side or just leave it be? I'm getting anxious to start exercising again. Any replies would be awesome.

Thanks!

It is not unusual for each side of your chest to heal at different rates -- so I would not be overly concerned.

As a general rule, barring any unforeseen complications, I allow my post-op patients to begin exercise (including gentle, gradual stretching) by four weeks after surgery.

You might be best off asking your surgeon about exercise, however.
