I'll be 65 in a month and had suffered from BPH for 10+ years.  Flomax stopped working, my prostate was at 70cc in size and continuing to grow, and the doctor put me on Avodart (dutasteride) 2 years ago. The Avodart has been very successful at controlling my BPH issues, but now I've noticed breast enlargement.  The drug companies claim risk of this side effect is .5% (that's 1 in 200) but I suspect it's much higher than that.
Since insurance covers the cost of the Avodart (it has postponed my BPH surgery), has anyone ever been successful in getting Medicare or other insurance to cover any of the cost of the corrective surgery? From what I've read, going off the Avodart is unlikely to restore my situation and surgery (or acceptance) are my only options.
Glad I found this forum.  I've already found some good compression garments thanks to suggestions from the group.
