Sorry my Bad English...
I live in Norway and my surgery is going to be almost free.
I`m just wondering how the results will be.
The surgeon is very young woman. I`ve never heard before that
women operate gynecomastia ?
Have you ?
I have no idea about her earlier work or anything.
Only thing that I know is that we have very high level surgeons here in Norway,
but I`m still very suspicious. I hope that everything goes fine...
I have big breat muscles and have heard that it`s easier for the guys who have
big muscles under the gynecomastia area. Is it true ?
Doctor said that there will probably be some scars and both sides are maybe not going to
be same size.

You want to do this once, and get it right the first time ... (or you'd rather have revision surgery then have TOO much taken out the first time if you know what I mean?)

I think your case is a matter of just gland removal if you have a muscular build. And yes that is much easier to operate on as the surgeon can work around your chest shape easier.

Its up to you though ... personally I would go for it as it's free. But then again, I had severe gyne so I'd be happy even with a tiny imperfection. Where as you have a good build so would probably want the best result possible.

I would absolutely NOT go for it just because it is free.  This is a very challenging operation for your surgeon with many things that can go wrong...apart from the stuff that can go wrong in any operation...e.g. infection, stuff specific to the male breast reduction is:

-too much or too little gland taken out: this seems to be the most common complaint
-prominent scarring
-poor contour of your chest
-symmetry issues
-lack of "natural" movement of your nipples and areolas after you heal.

Now, i'm not saying that your surgeon is going to screw up just because shes a woman or young, but you really want to avoid a revision at all costs.  Don't just get free surgery on the premise that "oh I can just get a revision if this one goes bad & that will fix everything".
Anyway think carefully about this, & do your research.

Good luck.

I would think you are getting your surgery free in Norway because the entire country has socialized medicine.  That is no reflection on the quality of the surgeon.

The American Society of Plastic Surgeons' website lists "Corresponding Plastic Surgery Society Members" who are from other countries and are members in good standing of their national corresponding plastic surgery society.  They list only 3 corresponding members in Norway, all from Oslo.  One is a woman, Barbara Dahl.  If you're going to her, you're probably in great shape.

Good luck!

I'd ask her how many of these she's done before.  That's an EXTREMELY important question.

From another socialised medicine country, theoretically the NHS in the UK should provide surgery for gyne (though in actual fact its pretty hit and miss whether you qualify). In any case  guys find the results to vary considerably, to be honest while theres some success stories they seem to be few and far between and youre mostly going to be better off going to a gyne specialist.

Its easy to get hung up on it being free and forget about whether its going to be good. Over here you get next to no choice over who will do the surgery and it can often be quite hard to find out what their experience and success rate is. If Norway's the same you might want to have a consultation with a private doctor to provide a second opinion.

I would say the worst criticism ive heard from nhs ops is that theyre over cautious and dont take enough out, so I guess if you dont mind going through the trauma of the operation and finding you may need another one, you may as well go for it - considering how much a beer and a sandwich costs in Norway I cant imagine what you'd have to pay for private surgery!

Thank you very much for your opinions.
Yes, Norway is very expensive country to live (Beer & Sandwich :) for example)
Private surgeon would cost about 4000-8000€.
It`s almost impossible to find out how experienced the doctors are. You just get
someone to do the job and you have to trust him/her. It`s scary :(
I hope everything goes fine. I have large breast muscles under the gyno area, so maybe it`s a
bit easier for PS to work with than skinny guys with gyno ?
