Hello,
I am 21 years old and am really interested to here what others have to say about my situation. I have suffered from puffy nipples my whole life and have developed the hard gland underneath each one. Out of curiosity, I though id test my luck and went to see if kaiser would cover the surgery. And to my surprise they will!!! However, my doctor did do all she could to scare me telling me that there will definitely be a scar, hopefully not that bad, but its the other things she warned me about that got me worried. Things like threading or indenting of the nipple.
Please if anyone has gone through this or has any input id really appreciate it!

I appreciate that kind of welcoming response. Means alot!
But I will try to upload some photos ASAP, but until than here's some more about me. I am 21 at 6 feet, weigh about 190 but am in good muscular shape. My bf% is about 16 and I no not the best but still not obese by any means. I love everything about my body and even the entire rest of my chest in exception to the puffy nipples right at the end of them. My doctor has told me that she believes it is a minor case of gynecomastia where there is not as much tissue in the breast area but only at the end of them. And thinking back my whole life if I was ever given this chance for free surgery I thought I would have jumped on it however she has scared me about the risks of overresection undersection and unfavorable scarring. I was hoping to hear that the more minor of a case the less risk of these things? I know that she is prepared to both take the gland out as well as do ultrasonic lipo. Please any feedback on my case would be much appreciated!!
Thank you!

Your height and weight are in the normal range.  Oftentimes, what seems like just a "little puffy nipple" is really accompanied by excess tissue on the chest as well.  Only an exam by a gyne specialist can tell what is truly there.

Treatment of "only puffy nipples" can be tricky -- this is not easy surgery and I would not trivialize it.  In the hands of an experienced expert, the results can be gratifying.  But in the hands of someone who doesn't do a lot of these procedures, there can be irregular contours post op.  Also, be aware that ultrasonic lipo doesn't remove breast tissue -- only fat.  Many surgeons have actually given up using it because of some bad side effects, such as burns of the skin and sometimes long-term pain after surgery.

Some advice:  the temptation of having the surgery covered by insurance is great.  But if it goes wrong, trying to fix it is tough -- and you may then have to go to an expert and undergo additional surgery and more expense.  Be smart and do your research carefully.  If you are going to have it done at Kaiser, make sure you meet with your surgeon and assess the amount of expertise he/she has in doing this particular operation.  There are just too many guys on this forum who had sub-par surgery and are very unhappy.

Yes, puffy nipples with wide areolar diameters but also some excess tissue across your chest.

Make sure you see an accomplished gyne surgeon to deal with this.

So you  agree that this is definitely an issue that should be dealt with and can't be avoided with weight loss or more muscle gain, correct?
Thanks again for the insight.

Hey Pete,  Four years ago I decided to get surgery for my puffy nipples (very comparable to yours).  I had a mammography done, it came back positive for gyno so my insurance picked up the tab.  I was very excited to say the least, I did get a recommendation but it wasn't from a well known gyno plastic surgeon but I figured what the heck.  Post op, the surgeon told me that I have some fat build up and that was sucked out but left my glands, so that is when I started to worry as I heard the gland needs to be removed.  For about a month or two, my nipples puffiness was still reduced and all was going well.  But, after a few months the puffiness came back to the original state.  Now, I am left with minor incisions below each nipple and both very puffy again.  I live in Iowa so not too much of a hot bed for plastic surgeons.

I do however, recommend finding a plastic surgeon that specializes in this area so that he/she is very well versed and does hundreds of these per year.

Hey bobby! I appreciate u Sharing your experience with me. Yeah according to my plastic surgeon she would go ahead and remove the two glands I have as well as perform some ultra sonic lipo in order to tighten the area up. I don't really have the choice of finding a specialized doctor Due to the fact that I must stay within Kaiser and they supply me with general surgeons here in Los Angeles. I had emailed my doctor to ask if she was confident with the surgery and  all she had replied with is that she is comfortable but will go ahead and refer me to a consultation with another surgeon if I desire. However that does not really tell me if she will refer me to someone with better experience or or if she is simply trying to satisfy my request. Like I said, SUCH A TOUGH BITTERSWEET DECISION TO BE MADE  :(
