hi everyone, im a 22 year old male living in los angeles california.
i have had gynecomastia for about 8 years now. when i was about 12, there was fatty tissue present around my areola and upper quadrants of breast, but i was a little chubby as well. as most say, i thought it was going to go away in the next 2 or 3 years, or atleast until my body was fully developed...unfortunately it didnt.
i had been taking testosterone pills, but there was no use since i was otherwise functioning normally, so i stopped. i tried exercising (but not vigorously), and still there wasnt much effect. i was even told that if a person has gynecomastia and starts to exercise, your pectoralis muscles will get bigger, which might actually have a negative effect, since your breast may protrude a bit more.

finally, i opted out for surgery about 3 weeks ago, and i underwent the operation yesterday. my left side was a bit larger than my right side. the doctor (Dr. John Gross, Pasadena CA.) marked my areas on the chest where breast tissue would be taken out.
this was the exact procedure of my surgery, to help you all who are considering surgery.

1. i searched for a doctor in the los angeles area, closest to home, set up a consultation, and described what the procedure would be
2. did a lot of paper work, to ensure what the doctors would do and what would be expected of me
3. surgery date was set up approx. 3 weeks after the consultation.
4. surgery took place at verdugo hills  hospital in glendale, ca.
----1. sign in at the hospital
      2. nurse takes you in and asks questions, then puts u on I.V., records blood pressure and checks temperature
      3. they take you to the pre-op room and do your marking with a black marker
      4. the anesthesiologist interviews you, and tells you what to expect after your surgery
      5. nurse escorts you to the same day surgery theatre
      6. immediately, the anesthesiologist injects your I.V. with an anesthetic called "propofol" and "benzodiazipine" is given for sedation
      7. the doctor asks you to switch from on bed, to the other, and by that time, you are completely knocked out(general anesthesia)
      ----surgery takes place---- in which-
*you are on I.V., oxygen clip is placed on your index finger, tube is placed through your mouth, and ultrasound surgical procedure takes place.

      8. you wake up in the post-op room; there is already an oxygen mask placed on you, and your blood pressure is recorded approx. every 10 minutes. (as i awoke, i was immediately able to raise my legs, arms, and neck, so i notified the nurse that i am well) i asked her how my body was reacting, and she said i was doing well. there is also a compression garment placed on you very tightly...AND IN SOME CASES, LIKE MINE, THEY WILL PUT 2 DRAINING TUBES TO DRAIN OUT THE REMAINDER OF THE FLUID, FOR ABOUT 5 DAYS. THEY WILL GIVE YOU AN ADDITIONAL ENCLOSED CUP AND A PIECE OF PAPER ON WHICH YOU ARE TO WRITE HOW MUCH FLUID HAS BEEN DRAINED EACH MORNING AND EACH NIGHT
      9. they keep you in the post-op room for approx 1 hour, and soon the oxygen mask and oxygen clip on index finger is taken off
     10. you are moved to the recovery room, and you stay there for about another hour. In the recovery room, they take off your I.V. and you can slip on your normal clothes, and prepare to go home. if there is pain, they will inject you with "morphine" as they did to me. the pain went from 8-10 to about 5-10, and later on about 3-10, so it works pretty well. besides, i think if you take that morphine injection, you can kinda stay away from vidacin

Once at home, all i really did was rest and be pampered. if you have a younger brother or sister, you can force them to do things for you and they cant retaliate =) (its working for me). now, i still have my compression garment on since it eases your bruising. the 2 draining tubes are still on me...that stuff is a little bit of pain, since one of my draining pipes opened up from the inside and im too scared to open my compression garment and reseal it, so i have to go back to my doctor today so he can fix it. but the good part of it is that pretty much every last drop of that bad fluid is drained out in this manner. so since we pay so much for the surgery, might as well get it done the right way once and for all.
i dont feel much pain on the actual breast area, there is some pain..(about a 3 out of 10) on the incision area, partially because i still have the drainage tubes on me...but im good enough to write this essay hahaha.

sleeping overnight may be a little tough, as i woke up about 3 times to go to the bathroom. and the tubes get in the way a lot...just lie on your back, flat straight...thats the best you can do although the neck might become a little stiff.

food wise, they say keep it simple- crackers, jello, juice, etc will help
i had pizza, pudding, and gatorade lol.

otherwise, i approx 15 hours after the surgery, i feel like i can walk fine, and my coordination is fine. just tend to get tired quickly since the anesthesia isnt completely gone. gona go back to the doctor in a couple of hours to get my draining tubes properly working again. other than that, so far, i think this procedure was worth it....i havent taken off my vest, but just looking in the mirror, with your clothes on, YOU WILL SEE RESULTS.

i hope this long essay helps you guys, and i hope everyone recovers well and lives healthy. have a merry xmas and happy new year!
