I'm covered to see a psychiatrist for symptoms of depression and anxiety.

I'm covered for medication to treat the symptoms.

My depression and anxiety stems from growing up with a weight problem and the social consequences of it, and the continuous problems I face on a daily basis despite having lost the weight because of the remaining loose skin.

I've been in therapy for about 3-4 years.

But surgery is not important enough to be covered...

Makes sense.  ???

Sorry, I usually only come here when I'm on a real low...

Keep your head up. Go for a walk... even if it only distracts you a few seconds at a time its better than the internet. :)

for what it's worth, keep in mind there's a lot of systemic irrationality all around.  you could hope to make a dent only if you could persuade them a surgery would be cheaper than meds and ongoing therapy (at least if the big pharma sales rep stays out of the picture).  on the other hand, it could always be worth a try, getting things fixed at the root is the only thing that makes sense.

* if it screws up your life the same, is there really any such thing as "mild" gyne?
