Im not really sure if there is such a thing as a "perminant medical record" but I know it is possible for people to look up your medical history if necessary for certain jobs, Fireman police man. Would the surgery be on my perminant medical record just like asthma would be? Would this inhibit me from being able to eventually join  the army or airforce and be a pilot or even maybe be an astronuat?

I operate on many military personnel as well as many from law enforcement.  I do not remember having my records requested for their medical charts.  Unless the individual informs the doctor who is completing that chart, I do not know how the details of the surgery would get there.  That is until someone forces an electronic record be completed by every doctor that is in a central location.  That will be a disaster for privacy and doctor patient relationships

Hope this helps,
