i would say you have a pretty bad case there. Has the hospital told you to wait 6 months and then they will review you, or have they scheduled you in for 6 months to allow you time to lose weight?

to be honest, you dont look much more overweight, if any, than i was. the doctor gave me 3 months, asked if i could try and lose some in that time, but he intended to go ahead with it regardless. I lost a stone prior to the op just by dieting, so you shouldnt have too much trouble if you have 6 months

Check out your BMI Body Mass Index on this calculator.  That with your Body Fat Analysis should give you a definition of your weight issue.  In general, weight loss before plastic surgery is better than weight loss after.

Hope this helps,

The NHS love to make you wait and tell you to lose weight just to fob you off really......   They don't tell women who need breast reductions (due to back issues or whatever) to lose a couple of stone first  do they?

Double standards.

It went pretty well this time. Spoke to the surgeon, he said hes a little old fashioned so there will be big scars, so what hes going to do is refer me to a plastic surgeon. Also said i should have it done hopefully before i return to uni, so hopefully this summer. Had a female doctor this time and she was pretty sympathetic. Also asked her have they done this operation before, and she said plenty of times so they very experienced. All i've got to do now is wait for my appointment letter to come through.

i went to see the doctor in february, reffered me to a surgeon - but im still awaiting a letter from the NHS, so ive decided to go with Alex Karidis - got my consultation on 2nd june. with the intention of getting surgery beggining of august so i can have a full month to recover before i start back at uni end of september.
Surgery performed by Alex Karidis - 11/09/08
