So finally I met up with Karidis today after years of put it off.
He was running a little late, but I did not mind as it gave me a chance to read the paper and fill out the forms (note to anyone who has an appointment, allow 5 -10 mins to complete the forms (have your GPs details), also bring correct change if making the 75 pound donation in cash...). I was surprised that he didn't have a separate reception waiting area, which kind of put me off a bit as I'm not sure who was there for legitimate (non cosmetic) reasons and who was waiting to see a plastic surgeon. There were a few fit birds waiting around, and in my head I was trying to determine who was there for breast augmentation...
Anyway, when I got to see Alex, it was all pretty straightforward. He asked a few questions around when I first got them, what my reasons were for surgery (aesthetic vs. medical) and then I took my took my to off and he had a look (grab). He said I had a combination of gland and fat and he coud sort me out. This was contradictory to what an endocrinologist told me a few years ago (no gland - just fat and muscle...).
He showed me a few photos and this was really good as he zoomed in really close on some of them (I was asking about what the scars would look like).
We talked about scar tissue and he said it usually takes 3- 6 months for a full result, in some cases it can take 8 - 12 months. In 2% cases revision is required and if so he wouldn't charge a fee. I mentioned these boards and he said that a lot of the guys on here get carried away with massaging scar tissue...
I had some other questions around loose skin and says I'll be fine. He should me a the before and after photos of a guy that must have been a least a C cup who had no loose skin post surgery and advised that if that patient didn't have any loose skin, I'll be fine. and everything should retract nicely.
I probably had less questions than most as I've been on these boards for some time now and he managed to appease most of my concerns (I don't think I ever fully feel comfortable about the general anesthetic risk, no matter how low the chances are...).
He was nice guy, pretty smooth, reminded me of Javier Bardem.
I met with his secretary and the earliest is they could fit me in is around 6 weeks away. I didn't book the surgery in. I nearly did, his results are impressive.
Anyway, I'm determined to get rid of these this year, once and for all. The only thing stopping me booking an appointment is that I want to try one last time to shed these through diet and exercise. I know that everyone on here says it is not possible, but most of the bodybuilding community seems to think otherwise (except for steroid induced gyno). I saw that 'Arg' from the Only Way is Essex managed to loose his through exercise/diet so maybe there is hope.
I've aslo been reading about BioSignature Modulation, where boy fat is measured using calipers and hormonal imbalances are corrected (i can't post a link here due to forum rules, but google it to find out more....) I was looking to get this done in conjunction with a regimented training routine. I figure, even it doesn't work, I should be in better shape overall and if I'm going to spend over 4K on surgery, I want my chest to complimented by a decent physique...
