Im getting surgery on the 23rd and its being covered by health insurance, I think my gyno is pretty bad (not the worst but very noticeable), last year another docotor told me I had a lump and would need excision and lipo, but this doctor thats doing the surgery says he believes lipo will do the job on my chest.

should i pull out cause i heard lipo is not good enough, or should i go through with it?

here are pics.

Since Ive been a member of this site Ive seen countless members make threads about how upset they are with their lipo only surgery results. In some cases the before/after photos look almost identical.

Any surgeon that recommends lipo only would have me running for the door.

Hard to believe they would cover lipo and not incision.

Hard to believe they would cover lipo and not incision.

he didnt bring that up, he just said he would need to do lipo, and i asked him about incision and he said with my case Lipo would be good.

I found out im covered later on toay (the insurance company probably doesnt even know im having lipo yet, cause the doctor has still to set out the info as I only met him today).

He probably is saying only lipo because your pecs muscles are visible and the tissue just looks like it's around your nipple area so he thinks it's just fat. I am assuming of course so ask him about it is all u can do and make it a point you want that gland making your nips puffy cut out. Anybody correct me if i'm wrong but lipo won't get the gland and u may be left with flatter chest without fat but the glandular tissue behind nipples will keep u with the puffy look. Do your research on here bro because since being on this site researching i know if i get surgery i want lipo and an excision under the nipple to take all that shit out. Best of luck

i dont know where to go, because for one, its covered and i got nothing to lose, but two, what happens if im not happy with the result? and i heard you cant have a revision for atleast 6 months, i cant wait that long!

i did ask him he said lipo would do the job, so i cant just argue with him, i dont know what to do!

Easy- Get a second or third opinion. If you have enlarged glandular tissue underneath your nipples you will need an incision.

3rd opinion? its too late for that, I have a consulation next week and the surgery in 3 weeks, I probably couldnt even get another doctor's appointment before that.

When I left the doctor's office today It wasn't covered, the doctor and associate gave me a price of $5,778 and I told them I'd let them know soon, they gave me the finance brochure and off I went.

I got home about 30 mins later and they called me and said she just talked to one of the hostpitals here and insurance will cover my surgery on the 23rd.

That's why I don't even know if I should complain about lipo only cause the office went through some hassle to book me a surgery so early.

Hassle huh? I doubt that but anyways bro it is your body and if i am not mistaken for that price people have had excision done as well and lipo after to sculpt the contour to give you the masculine look.Get on the phone and let them know you want excision it is up to you to decide what u will do. If he is not familiar with doing excisions then i would be worried. I wish somebody with more experience would chime in because it is a funny position. Insurance paying for a $5000 surgery hmmmm should i keep my mouth closed or risk going somewhere and getting denied coverage? Now is the time to do what my father always told me, use your mouthpiece! U need to get both bro excision plus lipo let us know what happens

Most of the time, lipo and excision are required to get the best possible result.  If lipo alone is done, then you may be left with residual (albeit smaller) gyne -- which will still bother you.  This is not really a savings if you then face another operation which you would have to pay for.  Also, secondary surgery is more difficult because of the presence of scar tissue from the first operation.

I have often stated on this forum that the best chance one has for a good result is the first operation -- everything else is playing catch up.

Dont you have 6 months before your approval from the insurance expires? i did. you should call your insurance and see if you have the option to go out of network or find a different plastic surgeon in network. I was in a position similar to you, the first Plastic surgeon i got approved for said lipo would do the trick, i then found a different plastic surgeon that said i wouldn't need both, got approved and had the surgery 2 weeks ago for free, lipo and Excision.
