Hey there all. I'm just posting here in the hopes that I can get some feedback (hopefully from an unbiased professional) about my gyne.
To give a little background info: I've been struggling with this condition since I was quite young. I was obese when I was just entering high school, and I believe this is what caused the condition to take effect--hormone imbalances from being overweight. I didn't realize I had a condition until near the end of high school, when I had shed most of the weight and become relatively fit. I got into bodybuilding and took part in that on and off for a few years, hoping it would help. Anyways, I'm 22 now and I've done all I can. I'm not in perfect shape, but I'm fairly happy with my body image--except for the gyne. It makes it very hard to enjoy bodybuilding, since I know no matter how ripped I get, the gyne will still be there. I am entering my final year at university this fall, and I believe I may be able to scrounge together enough money to afford surgery. Now for my questions...
This is me as of a few months ago, not pumped up from the gym, and letting my posture/stomach hang naturally (see bottom of post for pic)
* Does the cost of the surgery depend on the severity of the condition, and if so, to what extent? What can I expect to pay, judging by my pictures? I would estimate that my ceiling is about $4000 Canadian, but I am not sure yet.
* I live in BC and I will be living in Victoria this year. I am aware that there is a clinic that does gyne surgery in the city, and I intend to book an appointment for consultation. Do surgeons generally charge for appointments? Is there usually a long waiting period to book an appointment? And what about for the surgery itself?
* Judging by my pictures, what are my prospects for a successful surgery? To me, obvious scarring would be almost as bad as the gyne itself. Are my nipples too droopy? Being overweight in the past has left me with some loose skin, as can be seen on my abdomen as well (I am fine with my belly, it is only the gyne that I am uncomfortable with)
Any other wisdom you can offer me would also be greatly appreciated. Thanks for your time.
Footnote: Once my concerns have been satisfactorily addressed, I will edit this post and remove my picture, as I would prefer to have it floating around the internet as little as possible.
