Hi I'm new to this forum. I've had this problem since I was 12-13 years old, it has ruin and caused me to miss out on a lot of things in life..well anyway straight to the point. I'm looking to pull the trigger in a few weeks, I just want to know the total cost that most of you paid? I want to make sure I dont get ripped off or take advantage of money wise..one doctor gave me a price of $4900, I know each case is different depending the gyne and if extra skin needed to be removed. My case is mild not a lot of loose skin my chest is muscular its just my damn puffy nipples! and no its not fat, its glandular...

Wow man, if I had that kind of money laying around I think I would buy me a BARRETT 50 cal Rifle maybe a model 82A1 and that would gain value over the years, but than I would never want to sell it anyway.

Anyway, I don't know much about pricing as I am one of those guys that learned to live with breast, however, I would like to wish you the best of luck!

IMHO $4900 is on the low end of the spectrum cost wise, yes, it's an expensive surgery.

Are you sure? People have told me that the average cost for mild gyne is about 2500. I mean it makes sense seeing that I dont need much work done, but then again I'm not a doctor just taking a guess..thanks anyway for the info

Your presumption is probably correct, but it's basic economics in the end, varied by region and surgeon. 2.5-12k seems to be the range globally and you fall below that middle ground of the bell curve. It all depends on what part of the world you're in, popularity of the surgeon, and if you yourself deem it as worthwhile.

boxingboobs,

I agree with hammer and while you are free to do as you choose, please remember that gynecomastia is not a terminal condition, those feelings you have are all in your head. Surgery carries real risks, please take the time to read through some of the surgical failures on this site. Additionally as with any surgery there are no guarantees that the procedure will come out as you expect, the gynecomastia may return, you may be scared for life and it is possible though rare, you could die because of unforeseen complications.

Personally it sounds like a lot of risk for a perceived reward.

$5000 was the minimum I was quoted for surgery.  I ended up going with a different surgeon in order to get excision and lipo and he was even more expensive than five grand.  I should say I first had this surgery when I was 15 (wasn't happy with the outcome, and the surgery procedure has really evolved in these past 14 years), and am now 29, so I was shopping for "revision" surgery which can be more complicated.  I assume that's why my price was on the high end.

Hi Boxingboobs,

I have worked most of my life in group health software and consulting.  One of the issues we had to deal with were satisfaction issues.  Generally the less a person has to gain compared to the various risks involved the more likely they are to be dissatisfied and require more care.  My father was almost killed by a surgeon doing a surgery exactly the way the textbook said not to because of the probable outcome which occurred.  He also had worked his whole life in health care, most of it as consultant or General Manager of an HMO, VP of Development, and such things.  Then when followup care was botched and refused because they were classifying him as a troublesome old guy instead of a medically knowledgeable person he had to go to a different hospital to save his life and was in there for a month or so. He was within hours of dying by that time.

A friend of mine was having exploratory surgery and scar removal surgery and prep for reconstruction of his bladder and urinary tract.  It was his perhaps 15th surgery.  He was cured of cancer and dropped dead of anesthesia shock before they even started the surgery.

So beware that things can go wrong.  Get an experienced surgeon and check his galleries of before and after photos.  And even with the best surgeon things can go wrong.  Look for the best very experienced in the kind of surgery you need surgeons.  That was another thing I built into the software I designed and wrote, to rate the doctors and then use those doctors for suggestion list for second opinions and alternate surgical choices.
