Link to my post op thread: www.gynecomastia.org/smf/2/surgery-booked-in-sweden/

Hi, I am considering having a surgery done and wanted to show some pics and get opinions from here!

Height: 182 cm
Weight: 70 kg
Developed puffy nipples somewhere in puberty I think around 15 years of age.
Never used any steroids or anything like that, not smoking, not drinking much at all, only taking some protein powder.
Haven't checked my hormone levels/testo etc, but overall I feel very healthy. Jogging 1-3 times a week.

My question is if you guys think it's worth having the surgery, does the result of mild gyno surgerys turn out good? This still bothers me alot.

If I go on having the surgery I'll post pics so you can see progress.

Any input appreciated!

Thanks!

How bad the condition is cannot be shown in a photograph. It cannot be measured with a tape nor can its volume be calculated.

There are only very rare cases where Gynecomastia causes any physical symptoms. The usual situation is for a person to ultimately have surgery because the condition is having a severe emotional impact.

At the same time, there are men with profoundly enlarged breasts who are living with the condition and c oping quite well.

For older people like myself, Surgery was not a very good option until fairly recently so living with the condition was essentially the only choice until about 25 years ago.

This is a question that you can only answer for yourself. If you are avoiding social contacts or intimacy because of gynecomastia then it is very bad and you need surgery. If you find it to be only a bit of an embarrssment and nothing more then you do not need surgery. The only measure that counts is yours. How much is this impacting your life?

Hi and thanks for your answer Paa_Paw, the condition does affect me negatively, demotivates me to workout and sometimes I skip social activities such as going to the beach.

For me it's really hard telling someone about this, I went to a PS without telling anyone and he told me this could be fixed with lipo and gland removal. It seems there is no need for a hormone test in my case either? I forgot to ask about that. Problem is telling anyone about this and I still live at home and would have to stay home from work for minimun 1 week (got a pretty heavy job). I just need to tell my mom she would surely understand but it's embarrasing :(

Lot's of information missing about you.  But just on the basis of your photos, if it bothers you, then surgery by the right spe3cialist should be able to help you.

Do your homework and search carefully for a surgeon who has demonstrated sufficient interest and surgical experience in performing gyne surgery.

Good luck!

Thanks for your answer Dr. Elliot Jacobs.

I added some more information to my first post, hope that can help.

Is a hormone/testo/estrogen test not needed in every case? My PS I went to didn't mention that I had to do a test for any of that, and from what I've heard the gland can start to grow again if something is not right?

Thanks for you generous praise. If the truth be known, I have said many stupid things im my life and the law of averages gives me a good one now and then just to be fair.

I used an acquaintance to transport me to and from the hospital. She was a good enough friend that I could rely on her for a ride, and an open ear about what I was getting surgery for. I picked this person because she does know my close circle of friends or family.

The trade off is it can be acquired discussing your condition with someone who you are not "that" close with. But with my arrangement I could have still gotten the ride and said I was going in for some testing and samples.

My plan worked perfectly. Until my insurance company sent all my paper work to my parents address.

Simply stated, move on with your life, correct the problem in your head. Gynecomastia will not kill you, you are chasing a ghost. Being embarrassed is all in your head, if your "friends" make fun of you or make unwelcome comments, get some new and better friends.

Most people could care less if you live or die and will not pay any attention to you on the beach, at the pool or anywhere else.

Come to grips with your self image and enjoy your life.

Nice plan, and were you satisfied with your results? Hope everything turned out good :)

Still haven't been able to tell anyone, getting there hopefully

It's always going to play on your mind man. If you can, get surgery. People who say "get over it, it's all in your head" don't know what they're talking about. It's driven you to this website, driven you to post pics. Just choose a good surgeon

Thank you Ham for a great answer, I can get the surgery no problem with the money, I have myself to blame that I haven't done it yet but I will get there one day. Hopefully soon :)
