What if I don't wear a compression vest after surgery?

I have a bad back and shoulder pain and I'm very sensitive my concern is I won't be able to tolerate the compression vest especially at night when I'm trying to sleep. What happens if you don't wear it? Or maybe you wear it for a couple days after the surgery then stop.

After having performed thousands of gyne procedures, it is my absolute conclusion that wearing a snug compression is essential for rapid and satisfactory healing.  The body still wants to swell, even weeks after surgery.  That is why I recommend a minimum of four weeks of compression -- and oftentimes six weeks.

You should discuss your particular concerns with your surgeon.

Its pretty simple. If you want a good outcome, and the best possible looking chest, wear it for as long as your surgeon tells you to, and at all times.

Their are less restrictive vests you can start wearing later on in the process.
