Hey everybody, I literally just joined the forums looking for some answers.
I am currently a 17 year old male (obviously going through puberty) and I suffer from slight gyno on my right side and slight but a little more on my left side.
I have visited a doctor and he has confirmed it is gynecomastia. He says it will go away but that's what I'm really wondering. I've done a lot of research and people say it should be gone by 2-3. I however have had it since I was 14 and this is my 3rd year. I've searched everywhere online but I've never really seen anybody say their gynecomastia went away on its own during puberty. So what are my chances?
The gyno on my right side is a very small amount right behind my nipple while the gyno on my left side is more abundant and definitely more obvious (both are obvious when wearing a light-colored shirt).
I'm 6'0'' and I weigh 180 lbs. I'm a built person, I'm bulky but its mostly muscle bulk. The last time i measured my body fat, i was at 15% but I have recently started a month long gym routine so I'm hoping it will go down. I have also been eating way healthier for the past 2-3 months.
So what do you think, will it go away? My doctor said it will most likely go away but I know that after 2-3 years it will turn into permanent tissue and surgery will be the only option; but I'm still going through puberty so I don't know if that's an exception to the rule. All inputs appreciated!

Well wesleh0_0, mine did go away while I was in high school.  However 17 is pretty well along in puberty I would think for most people, but everyone is different.  I remember having boobs when I was like 13 and I am sure I had some development before that.  But I was a tall skinny kid that started shaving when I was 13 or so and had chest hair about your age, if that gives you any reference to puberty.

While my breasts shrunk down in size my nipples stayed weirdly long, you know like pencil erasers. But the nipple pain and itching went away.  Also I did have some hard breast material behind the nipples that was always there.  They really didn’t look bad for the most part because I worked out a bunch and had a pretty good chest.  Then with chest hair that sort of hid some sins also.

In full disclosure my breasts did come back in middle age after having had groin surgery which caused some other issues.  I developed, as my doctor said, the testosterone level of a 12 year old girl.  Using hormone replacement therapy I am back to pretty normal levels.  The breasts may have shrunk some but they are still pretty noticeable.  But at my age I am not as worried about them as I was in my teens and twenties.

If you go to the link below, I responded to a thread in “Your Stories”, which is titled “I feel normal and then I’m reminded”.  Just a little more of my high school years and discovering other guys with boobs.
