I am 31 years old, and I have just had my second consultation on the NHS, they told me that from the ultrasound results, it shows that I have gyne but its not alot and that its mainly fat. They have given me two options..one is where they can remove the gyne, and all the fat from my chest, so it will leave just the muscle and no fat.  This would keep me in hospital for a few days and leave a large (2inches) scar under each side. I would also have drainage pipes in me. The second is that I can get Liposuction on both sides, but the gyne will remain. This will only take around an hour to do, and I wont have to stay in hospital overnight. There will also be no scarring. But there is a greater chance of the chest growing out again. I am going to see the Plastic surgeon with regards to the lipo, and see what he says. As long as my chest looks cool, I am not too bothered about the gyne remaining as long its not visible. I want him to show me pics of what my chest might look like after the lipo. Once my chest is flat, then I know that I will maintain it (So I wont help it to come back, by bad diet and inactiviity). Please leave advice..

well at least you have choice  ;D Iam going through the NHS at the mo, and my surgeon has told me that she will only do lipo first as mine is mainly fat with gland on one side as indicated by ultrasound.

She then said if I am not happy she will cut the gland out at a second op but apparenly she only does it first time if she is sure it will show.Because of scarring and infection (nhs hospitals aren't the cleanest of places.

I would prefer to have the choice personally. To your question I think it all comes  down to you and what you are prepared to put up with. No one can know how your chest will look if you just have lipo. If you just have the lipo and you get fat there again I guess you will be bac to square one. So you would have as you said to make sure it doesn't happen.

If you have the gland out you may well get a better result and  if you do put on a little weight again it may be less of a problem. However scarring may be a problem here. i was told I will be left with scars and really I don't now how good your surgeon is and some people don't have a problem with scars and others do.

i think it depends as well how bad you think your gyne is mine is minor on one side so I am debating whether to have surgery at all even though I have been told I can have it.

What does your surgeon think ? have they given an opinion on what they think is best for you. Bit tough for you to decide all this on your own.

From what i have read on the site some have had lipo only and been pleased with the  results others not so.

Personally if it was me I would just have the lipo first you are getting it free anyway and see how it looks. Will they let you have the gland out if you are not happy? As I said this is what they are doing with me as my gyne is quite minor and they are concerned about scars as I have BDD.Anyway I expect other people will give you some info as well maybe someone who has had lipo only.Good luck.

The thing with the NHS is that you dont have a personal relationship with the doctors, you just see them at appointments. I guess I will have to wait to see the plastic surgeon, and see what he reccommends..to be honest I hope it will only be lipo that I need. I am waiting for an appointment with the Plastic surgeon, they say it will take a couple of months..I am also leaning towards the lipo, because of scarring issue. But i guess I will have to wait and see..But whatever happens, this time next year I wont have this problem ;D
