Seems like lots of us have experienced going to the doctor when we were young and having them tell us that "it's just chest fat that will go away when you're older" or "it's all in your head".  I've experienced the former as well.  Since it's a common occurrence, why is it that doctors don't want to approach the situation as if it's a real problem to be dealt with?  Many people I've seen with gyne aren't even fat, and yet doctors don't want to help them out early on and instead many of us who consider surgery are over 20 years old.  Are doctors even taught about gynecomastia in medical school?  Seems like they don't.

Since they deal with literally all aspects of general medicine, they have limited knowledge on certain specific subjects. Their bread and butter is things like diabetes, high blood pressure, strokes, obesity etc. I'm sure as gyne is becoming more widespread and the surgical procedure is becoming a very common operation, it will be seen and learned more by GP's in the next 10-20 years...

One thing you will learn in life is that it is in fact a good thing not to know everything, and nobody can know everything. That's what specialists are for; general practitioners are just that.

Now that the Net has been mainstream for a few decades, G sufferers, or anyone else for that matter... no longer need to depend on their GP for medical advice/information...

Our younger members are lucky to have the Net at an early age...  When the other older members and myself were in their early teens, we didn't have access to the Net and its vast amount of information and specialty support groups like Gynecomastia.org  ;)

you said it, man.  people have no idea what a difference it makes being able to find out in your teens or sooner instead of living in ignorance for years.
* a man is more than a body will ever tell
* if it screws up your life the same, is there really any such thing as "mild" gyne?
