Swelling= Nipples puffing out? one week post op

Its been one week post op and my nipples are still poking out. Theyre not "puffy" but they are poking out. Is this what swellings suppose to look like?

Also I felt a lump still under my nipples. Did the surgeon leave in too much gland perhaps, or is this normal?

Not all doctors have the same techniques. Some have a great deal of swelling and bruising after surgery. What my patients are supposed to look like right after surgery is on my site: minimal swelling and deformity. There should be a flat chest with the peak swelling in the operating room getting progressively better. So not only are there the before and after photos, but the progression of what path the tissue is supposed to take to get there.

Few doctors post such details leaving the transition period guesswork. You can find some examples of early after surgery results on a forum with a difficult time consuming search, but, in my opinion, it is better to have such details easy for a patient to fine for that doctor's method. "Don't worry that is swelling, just be patient" answer may be correct for some, but would it not be even better that there was no swelling nor contour problem to be concerned with from the first time you check your contour the day after surgery? Unfortunately, I have seen so many patients coming to me for help with contour problems like that that I named the condition: Puffy Nipple Complication After Gynecomastia Surgery and described the various mechanisms I found during my revision sculpture as well as examples.

If you want to show others your contour issues, post some of my Standard After Gynecomastia Pictures to demonstrate the contour issues. The flexing and arms up overhead views as well as the complete set of angles is designed to show both subtle and gross contour problems. It will not distinguish between swelling and residual gland. But seeing just how a particular surgeon's technique evolves after surgery would help others better understand what path that method can take to get from before to after surgery results.
