Post-Op care

Following lipo/excision surgery is massaging the area usually a customary part of the healing process or do some guys get away without having to do the whole massage deal?

I have not had this surgery, but had 6 other type of surgeries and with them I followed post-op very close, and for best results I would think it would be best to do the same for this surgery as well!
