Hi Dr Jacobs,

I'm heading for surgery in just under 3 weeks, for lipo-suction and possible incision/gland removal (although an echo (ultrasound) shows no sign of gland at all.

My pictures are posted here:

Dr Jacobs, my surgeon tells me that after a week or two, a compression vest will no longer be necessary, because there is no added benefit. What is your take on this?

Your view would be very appreciated.

Thanks!

Sorry, but in my opinion, a compression garment should be worn at least a minimum of four weeks.  Is there any harm to you to wear it longer??

Hi Dr Jacobs,

Thanks for your input. There is no harm in wearing one, so I'll re-discuss this with my surgeon.

I'm scheduled for April 8th, so I'll put post-op pics soon after.

All the best.

Hi Dr Jacobs,

As promised, here's my update: Monday, April 8th, i had Lipo and arthroscopic
shaver to break down any fibrous tissue (i had adipose gyneco).

Length of procedure: roughly 1.5 hours. About 350cc of fat removed from each side. Minimal fibrous tissue existed, removed by shaver.

I am super happy with the results 1-day post op. That said, the swelling has now begun, so in line with your post regarding recovery, I'm going to let this play out for the next few months.

I had a 24-hour post-op check up (the picture), and checking in again after a week with my surgeon.

I guess my only question for next week will be: how to manage the swelling and maximize skin retractment for the next couple months.

Any comments welcome! Otherwise it's time for weeks and weeks of rest.

All the best.

You look pretty good for just a few days post op.  Most important:  be patient and keep in touch with your surgeon if you have any unanswered questions or concerns.

Update, now 5-days post-up. Swelling and bruising more evident.

Easing off on the Tylenol now, no pain, and minimal discomfort. Still relaxing at home since it's the weekend.

All the best.
