Hi everyone!

My name’s Sal, I’m from Mexico and I really NEED your help.

I’ve been seriously considering having gynecomastia surgery for the past 4 months now, but I’m having second thoughts and a lot of questions.

I know it could help me a lot in terms of self confidence and possible put and end to my anxiety and stress everytime I’m in a situation where I'm supposed to take my shirt off.  I could go to the beach and finally walk shirtless under the sun or just lay in the sand without the fear of my areolas popping back up to their normal size and cause me shame…

The plastic surgeon I saw (Dr. Salvador Yáñez Diaz) told me that I had Grade II and that I had a 80% fat and 20% gland in my chest. It actually didn’t sound that bad, so I asked weather dieting and exercising properly to loose that fat could help reduce the size of my areola, to which he answer "it only helps a little". But I don’t know how “little” it means.

Maybe I’m good with just a little.

I’m not in a very good shape and it made me question if my lack of exercise is mostly why they look the way they look now. Here are some picures of me:

I’ve seen some guys in good shape or at least with a more ‘even distribution of fat' than I have with slightly puffy nipples and they don’t look bad to me.

He also mentioned that sensitivity on the nipples is reduced and in some cases completely lost after surgery. And well... I kind of like my nipples for that, they give me erogenous pleasure. And there are days when I don't find them ugly.

So that’s why I’ve been wondering maybe it’s best if I’d gained some weight and build up a little I could cover up the gyno and not risk myself to lose sensitivity or to mismatch my chest with the rest of my body.

But I really don’t know if that’s possible.

On one side I could go on with the surgery and alleviate my problems quicker and for good than if I submit again to a gym. There’s another side telling me I should first sign up to a gym, get a trainer and eat a high testosterone/low estrogene diet and see where it naturally gets me.

I kind of feel like i’m cheating if I do the surgery because my physical shape it isn’t that good and I’d be taking the easy way out, you know?

Did you ever got that feeling?

How bad can my body get after all, if I eat correctly and exercise properly?

But by what the doctor said and what I’ve read, it seems that it won’t help at all and I’ll be having the same anxiety and stress the next time I go to the beach or even wear a single T-shirt (I ALWAYS wear a shirt on top to cover them up)

But I don’t know maybe I’m overreacting and surgery is my best option. And maybe it’s true: In order to gain something you have to lose something.

Please, if you’ve experienced something like I have, share it. I need to hear from people that have been through gynecomastia their opinions on this. What do you recommend? Should I get in a better shape first and go from there instead of rushing into the OR?

How did you cope with yours and what are your results now? Did you lose your sensitivity on your nipples? Is it that bad? Was the surgery what you expected?

Thank you for reading.
I'd very much appreciate your thoughts and recommendations.

What would you say about his results?

I'd go with hitting the gym, and weight loss. If nothing else you would be in better shape to deal with surgery.
