3 days post-op, urgent question

Hi everyone
I had surgery on thursday. I haven't seen the result yet as I have bandages covering my nips. My question is regarding the compression vest. My doctor didn't give me one, and didn't really feel it was important to have one. He just recommended me to wear a tight tanktop.
So, the question is :

what happens if you don't have enough compression on your chest? How much ( if you can describe it) pressure should be put on your chest?

I don't feel that my clothing puts enough pressure on my chest.

might do some good, unlikely to harm....
