Hello everyone

I'm getting my gyno surgery after a week from now so my question is:
Is the local anesthetic with sedation makes you feel any pain during the surgery?

Does sedation makes you react hailarios and funny after the surgery or nothing will happen ?

Doctor said I have a fatty tissue plus gland. He will do liposuction first and see if the gland will be sucked away or not. If not then he will do incesion and cut away the gland

I'm so excited to get the surgery done please wish me luck guys
Thanks for reading!.

Sedation plus local anesthetic (technically called "conscious sedation") is my preferred method of anesthesia for gyne surgery.  Obviously, it requires an expert anesthesiologist and expert administration of the local anesthetic by the surgeon.  Properly done, you will be sleeping, with no pain and no awareness of the procedure.  What's nice is that you will awaken with no side effects (no nausea, vomiting, hangover, sore throat) and will have absolutely no memory of the operation.

Good luck with your surgery.

I had a general and for me the worst part post op was the very dry/sore mouth which made swelling saliva difficult and painful. I almost choked eating a sandwich later that day when i got back home because my throat was still so dry. I wish i could have had that instead ha!

I'm so sorry to hear that, did you had liposuction and removed the gland like in my case ? And if so did you feel pain at the area around your chest in the recovery time after the surgery ?

Don't know which is which but some do it where you are completely awake during surgery and can look at the procedure, there is never any pain.

I was given general anesthesia. I would say that was the best part of the surgery as you are not at all aware of the surgery duration, pain. Also, the GA puts an end to our anxiety. Just go to the OT..lie down...and the next moment you wake up with a flat chest. Its like 1-2 min have passed.

Properly performed conscious sedation will yield the identical experience -- only without the 24 hr side effects of nausea,vomiting,sore/dry throat, etc.

Many of my patients claim that the anesthesia is the best part of the surgery!
