Can someone give me a detailed description of gynecomastia? From what I can understand there is 'real' and 'pseudo'. Pseudo is general flabbiness in the chest area largely due to weight.  Real is when you have hard nodules and pointy nipples is that right?

I think I have real gyno.  I understand that there is usually a hard lump directly under that nipple. Is that right? Is it always the case? I don't feel a lump directly under the nipple but when i pinch together areas of skin in the breast area I can feel hardness. Is this hardness breast tissue formation? Please could someone clarify...

Gynecomastia is the enlargement of the breast of a male toward the usual female form.

About 2/3 of all men have it at some time in their lives.
Which means that while it is an embarassment, it is statistically normal.

Do not allow yourself to become too concerned about the differences between true and pseudo----

The simple fact is that in most cases there is both fat and gland. It would be uncommon to find one and not the other.

There are only rare cases with physical effects of significance, but it can be an important symptom of several very serious problems so seeing a Doctor for a thorough Physical is always a good idea.

The bad effects are virtually all psychological and can be severe.
