Infection after surgery

My surgery was 7 days ago. I had my second follow up yesterday and the Dr. came to the conclusion that one side was infected. It started with redness and has been the more sore of the two sides. He perscribed an antibiotic and said that it should clear up within 2 days. The problem is it has gotten worse. After my appointment I hopped on a plane and am no longer in the same city as my surgeon, this has me pretty worried. The whole bottom part of the breast is hard and very sore to touch. The Dr. told me that I would need to have the incision reopened and the infection "dealt with" if the antibiotic didn't work. I'm not sure what that means, but if I don't see and improvment in 12 hours I think I need to go to emergency.
Has anyone else had this type of problem? I feel like I am playing with fire with an infection inside my body. I will call my Dr. again in the morning to get his final say but this is a little scarey.
