I had tumescent liposuction surgery in January 2005 and looked great up until about a year ago where my gyne has seemed to reappear. Granted, it's not nearly as bad as it was pre-surgery but still... I guess I'm too self-conscious or whatever. Nonetheless, my question/inquiry is as follows: I was wondering if my gyne recurrence is due to the fact that I did not remove any glandular tissue.

Also, I think I'm planning on having another surgery some time in October where I will probably opt to remove glandular tissue this time around. Has anyone that had revision surgery happy with their results (years later)? Thanks in advance for any input and/or advice you guys may have to offer.

You are asking the wrong question. You should be asking if your gyne reoccurance is caused by a hormonal imbalance or some other condition and if so you need to consult an endocrinologist to have this inbalance fixed before even considering surgery again. Usually, even with gland removal, gyne can reoccur since typically not all of the gland is removed by the surgeon or can be removed. If any of the gland is left then gyne can come back if you have a condition that can cause it.

I Agree.

Vizia, I think you should see an Endocrinologist and try to find out why your gyne is re-growing.  Just repeating surgery after surgery is wasting your money if there is an underlying cause that needs addressing.

But okay, let's say that my recurrence IS due to a hormonal imbalance or other condition, is there really anything I can do about it?

Yes, the are things that can be done to correct hormonal inbalances. Go see a specialist. They will test your blood levels for various hormones to see if you fall in a normal range for your age. If they do fall in a normarl range then there is something else and should seek further professional advice. If you do not fall in a normal range for all hormone levels then it would be pretty safe to conclude that this is your cause and from there, an endo can prescribe a remedy for you.

I wouldn't worry with hormones so much if you had lipo only done.  Lipo will not remove the actual gland, it will basically remove the fat.  I would be more concerned if you have excission and needed a revision.

No I had liposuction only 'cause the doc said I had very little glandular tissue (as opposed to his other patients whose gyno were predominantly gland). But since a lot of fat has 'resurfaced' in the area again, I was wondering if it's 'cause I didn't remove what little bit of gland I have. Can glandular tissue cause fat to redistribute itself in the same (problem) area?

Your in the same boat as me, you let a PS talk you into lipo only.  I've noticed that guys with gyno seem to be more trusting.  I'm sure it's because they desperately want to look normal.  I let my PS talk me into lipo only.  He stated that my manboobs felt soft and fatty.  I'm 6 weeks post op and I can already tell that I will need another surgery.  Next time I will make sure that excission and lipo are both done.
