Spleen,

You can clearly see a small amount of gland in the nipple. There is no way this guy has Body Dysmorphic Disorder.

A mild problem is still a problem and shouldn't be dismissed as not existing.

I have it much worse than this guy. I told my mom about it and she is in total denial and says it's "all in my head". It's frustrating and annoying when people dismiss gyno in this way because of a defense mechanism. That's what you're doing here Spleen.

I gotta disagree aux.  I consider myself a reasonable person and have to call it as I see it.  You need to be able to say when the emperor wears no clothes.  It's hard to do here because this is a place for the ultra-sensitive to find solace or company.  The downside of this, IMO, is that as a group we encourage each other to feel badly about our appearance and re-enforce the idea that gynecomastia is something shameful, horrible and life-ruining.  To be quite honest, I would say that the majority of guys that have gynecomastia either a) don't know they have it, or b) don't care.  I never would have called my pepperoni nips gyne until I came here.  That was my perception before, and now I see that at least by the consensus here I fall well within the range.  Still, where do you set the bar?  In the past two weeks there's been a spate of pix of what look to be perfectly normal, average guys and while the consensus had typically been "no", there's always a "yes" in the group.  The funny thing is it's the one "yes" that the concerned party listens to.

And I'm not in the anti-surgery crowd either.  I go in 2 weeks to get cut, etc.  I don't care either way if someone wants surgery or not.  pe175 is clearly unhappy and he's a big boy who doesn't need or may not care about old Spleen's opinion.  Still, I have to challenge the idea that even the slightest deviation from some perceived body "norm" ought to be met with shame, deception and neurosis.

Sorry for hijacking this thread, BTW.  Next time I'll try to keep my rants elsewhere.

It's not reasonable to say someone has body dysmorphic disorder when the flaw they're talking about actually exists. At worst, you can say this guy is being overly sensitive, but it's definitely not something he's making up out of nowhere.

You say "it's the one yes that the concerned party listens to"...

there have been five or six different "yes" answers to this post, not just one.

He has an extremely mild case, if I looked like him I wouldn't care about it. However, it's still gyno.

Just for the record, it is reasonable:

Body dysmorphic disorder (BDD), a distressing and impairing preoccupation with an imagined or slight defect in appearance...

Spleen is entitled to his opinion whatever it may be.

However, your last few replies are in no way helping me with the questions I asked so I think its best if you refrain from posting unless you have something constructive to say.

My questions is... do you think Andractim would be beneficial in my case?

I'm looking for ANY ALTERNATIVE to surgery just because of the lack of support i'm recieving.

Right now I'm using cutting gel and started to take diet pills.  I'm hoping this combined with a lot of sunlight may work in my favor.

any other suggestions?

pe175, I think you look GREAT.

If I were you I would not have surgery. You are lean and lightly muscular. Your nipples are not very puffy, they just have a mild point to them. I don't think that is something to be worried about.

All in all, you should forget about this site and your chest and move on.

That's just my opinion.

Good luck to you in whatever you choose.

Yeah, I know my case is very mild, and I do feel almost stupid going for surgery.  The thing is, is that whenever I wear a tight shirt all you see is my nipple, and it ends up making me looking fat instead of in shape.  The puffy nipple pokes out more then my chest itself.

Post some pics of you in a shirt (from the front) so we can see what you are referring to.

If it is your [ever so mild] pointy nips that you are worried about, no amount of gel or dieting will change it. It is not a bodyfat problem, as evidenced by your terrific conditioning.

You likely have a small amount of gland underneath the areola. Diet and excercise WILL NOT get rid of it. You could hit the gym and focus on your upper pecs, shoulders, and triceps and that would "dwarf" your nips in comparison. If you added mass to your shoulders (barbell military press, etc). then it would cause your t-shirts to hang on your body a little differently. Don't do any bench presses or flat dumbell presses. You want to go for the Greek statue look. They had large, massively towering shoulders and arms with lightly developed pecs. I think it looks a lot better than today's bodybuilders do with their huge pecs.

I will post some pictures of me in tight shirts just to show you guys what I mean.

I also agree with you on the exercises.  I'm trying to get more definition between my upper chest and shoulders.  I want to get that crease that goes from your armpit to neck. (i don't know if you guys know what I mean).

pe, agree with aux.  for some people if you're smaller than a b-cup it's all just imagination, and it's not.  that's a mild case, but it's gyne, not too dissimilar from mine, and i'm guessing you can even feel the disk material.  no, andractim won't do squat for you, your case would be an excision only.
* a man is more than a body will ever tell
* if it screws up your life the same, is there really any such thing as "mild" gyne?

I don't really feel anything hard or disk like under my nipple.  If I push hard enough and rub I just feel my rib cage.  Everything else feels like fat.

(i will be posting more pics soon)

I'd wager that there are a lot of guys here that are wishing they could look that good after surgery!

Your parents have my vote.  The cash needed for surgery would be better spent elsewhere.

so true.
Looks normal to me.

I will have to back up what spleen said.

Body Dysmorphic Disorder commonly refers to an individual who is obsessive about a percieved fault when an unbiased observer does not percieve a dysmorphic condition.

The term could also be used to describe an Obsessive preocupation with a very minor or trivial dysmorphic feature.

People with BDD become so obsessive that they will not be satisfied and if prevented from having surgery may actually become suicidal. Because they have unrealistic expectations regarding their own form and the surgical outcome, Dissatisfaction with the post-operative result is common.
