Hey all
I am about to get my surgery done and I want to know how soon can I start walking. I know you shouldn't do any cardio activites for 4 weeks minimum but I wanted to hear your thoughts on whether just walking at a casual pace (for maybe 1-2 miles) could be ok earlier on. I don't wont to be kooked up in the house for such a long time without any physical activity. Thanks

Walking's fine even the day after, I was doing light running 2 weeks post

Sorry but that is inadvertently very funny.

It depends upon the nature and extent of the surgery.

I had extensive gynecomastia and the operation took three and a half hours.

A day later and I was on morphine and could barely move, three days later and I had four blood bottles/drains that I had to hold up in the air just to amble to the hospital toilet.

My case was really bad...but keep in mind everyone in different and it is not a one size fits all solution and you cannot tell someone that they will be the same as yourself...

Horses for courses.

You should be able to walk all that you want the next day.  I wouldn't run for a couple of weeks though.  It's the up and down that really hurts.

Hypo, we must have different senses of humor.  It sounds like you had a pretty rough go following surgery.  Anywho,
