Excuse my ignorance but what is scar tissue?

10 Days post op, which was fat and gland removal and underneath the nipple there is a hard bit, could this be scar tissue.

What exactly is it and how long does it last etc. Can anyone enlighten me.

it's the internal version of the kind of denser buildup you see over severe cuts, it's the body's way of trying to mend itself when it gets cut, like in a gyne surgery, in both cases.
