Sensitive nips?

recently had surgery, after the surgery the PS wrapped some foam pads around the chest..a week later (today) i went for the follow up, nips felt less sensitive, they were definitely not puffy anymore with the gland behind them gone..

now my nipples are so sensitive they are ticklish...i put on just a shirt for a little bit and i couldn't take it, the shirt was rubbing against the nipples and tickling me..

i have since put my tensor bandage back on for compression and that is REALLY tickling my nipples..

is this normal? did the gland take sensitivity away and now that the gland is gone, they are sensitive again and it just takes some getting used to?  i've read other posts where people are complaining  they have no sensisitivity after surgery..i hate being tickled!
