constipation

I'm 1 day post op and i've eaten soo much and i cant seem to go take a dump. Can some1 tell me how long i have to wait because my stomach is hurting me.
I appreciate your answer.

drink some h20 and take a long walk at the park, wake those bowels up ..

The pain meds will do that.  Get some stool softener (docusate sodium) and take as directed.  Raisin Bran works too, as does walking.  Happy pooping.

If you want instant gratification, the only thing I found to work are suppositories, i think they were called ducolax or something 15 minutes and you should be good.  Otherwise if you don't think its worth shoving a little wax rocket in your ass just get some laxative pills a and give it a good 6-12 hours, then two bottles of water and you should be good.

I have same issue as you. I was prescribed tylenol 3, and it has the side effect of constipation. I was told by the nurse to get some laxative pills at the same time. I haven't taken a dump since the surgery either, and just took a tylenol 3 with one of the lax pills I got from the pharmacy.

Prune just works very nicely. If you had read my book, it talks about this side effect of pain meds.

I'm starting to get worried here about the constipation. Last time I had a dump was on the night of 22nd of April. It's been 3 days. I took a laxative pill last night and one this morning but still nothing. I have to go work tomorrow and really can't afford to miss a day of work if I get constipation complications.

I haven't taken any of the Tylenol 3 I was prescribed because I don't wanna make matters worse, and the pain seems to have gone down compared to yesterday. And most of the pain is on my back and not the chest. I did take a Extra Strenght Tylenol however.

I didn't crap for 3 days after my surgery.  I was on lortab, plus getting over the anesthia.  I had never been so happy to poop! Good luck guys!

3days......thats about riteeeeeee....first time it was painful cuz i had to force it out...the next day.....it was soooo ezz  that i didnt have to nething lol........i was soo happy that i told my bros lol..
