Hey everyone, I had surgery last week, and had a question. I know it takes awhile to see final results and my nipples are still puffy post op but its better than before. My question is, does it take awhile to see final results because your nipples have to get used to not being pushed out by gland? The nipples will eventually tighten themselves and not be puffy if there is no gland there right?

Much to early to tell anything about your surgical results.  But remember, surgery, like any injury, produces swelling.  Many surgeons, including myself, insist on a firm compression garment after surgery to help minimize swelling.  But none of the compression garments are perfect and everyone is individual.  The result?  Some people swell more than others.  Be patient -- the final results are what matters -- not what things look like one week after surgery.

As said above, it will take time.  Be prepared for things to look evevn worse once the scar tissue starts to develop.  For me, everything looked the worst about 3-4 weeks post-op.  Now, at 5 1/2 weeks post-op, my chest is just starting to settle down and I can see the results starting to take shape.  It's a very long, and stressful recovery, but after a few months you'll be able to appreciate the final results.
