Some questions re. surgery and Karidis.. Help!

Hi,
I'm thinking of going to see Alex Karidis with a possible view to surgery as i've read some success stories on here... However, does anyone have any success stories on the NHS? And do you know how it's possible to get it done on the NHS? I've had clinical depression and counselling for this and it hasn't worked, and very bad posture so would this sway their decision? Having said that i'd rather borrow the £4k and go private if it means having it done right and not having them mess it up...

I've seen some people's pre-op photos and to be honest I think i've got such a bad case of gynae because i'd actually swap with them any time!! Yes their pre-op photos are smaller than the gynae I have and i'm thinking would surgery even do any good even if it's with Karidis..? I mean i can actually touch my nipples together! If not would he tell me so in the consultation..? And with both routes, Karidis or NHS, would there be a possibility they'd tell me to lose weight first? I dont know how it works.  I think i'm overweight as I have a belly and saggy bits under the arms and love handles so would they just tell me to pi$$ off??

I'd really appreciate some help with my questions, sorry they're all over the place...

I had surgery with Karidis and it has been a fantastic boost to me. He is a specialist in this area and knows instantly what can be done and how to achieve it. It costs £75 for a consultation where he will give you an opinion on what he can achieve for you. I had no pressure applied at all - if I wanted to I could have walked out and never looked back. However he gave me such confidence that I booked there and then.

My advice would be to get an appointmet and let him talk it through with you. He is expensive, but this is an op that in severe cases like yours can change your life and leave very little evidence of the op or the condition. The appointment is not embarrasing, no nurses in with you, just him.

If you're overweight does he tell you to lose weight in the consultation before they consider surgery..? And would it help?

I was overweight but not massively. He said that I may want to consider losing weight as the results may look unbalanced (ie a belly with no moobs). I smiled and said thats exactly what I wanted 

I lost a little but not much before surgery - It may help a bit but to be honest, he hoovers out everything anyway so unless you are really overweight I wouldnt worry.

I know what he means by unbalanced. I'm more or less a skinny guy, but i do have a bit of a belly. After getting rid of the moobs, the belly looks worse, especially wearing that compression vest, which when you take off makes your chest look flat. But as long as you're not too overweight or too underweight it should be fine. But try to stay the same weight from your consultation to your op as he will ask your weight as this info is needed for the anaesthetist.

Personally, and this is just my opinion, I would say that the least amount of fat you have the better. I believe that that the op can be generally more effective for leaner individuals as I feel that the less fat there is to remove, the easier the op becomes. I was overweight when I had my surgery but not massively. However, I would have liked to have been a lot leaner and ended up loosing the weight after the op which was pretty hard going. That said though, my results have been really good and I am happy with my look now. Next summer will be the time when I will feel whether or not I am 100% happy as I believe that it takes a good 12-18 months to see your true results.

Are we talking needing about 4-6 weeks before he could fit us in for a brief first chat?

I live 300 miles from London now so would need to arrange this in advance.

I've lost 3 stone 7 lbs in 8 months (6ft and 11 Stone 7Lb now),  so I agree on the loosing weight part first.

Infuriatingly, my chest looks bigger than it did, compared to when I had a huge tummy.

I think I was about 10 days from call to first consultation and then 7 weeks from then to the op itself. It seems a long way off at first but soon creeps up on you!

Whats the best way to get to Dr. Karidis, arriving by air - what is the best airport??

Guessing you're flying from Scotland like I did, get a flight to Luton then jump on a 757 easybus(ask the driver to stop at Lords which is a 5min walk from the hospital). Luton isn't the closest but probably the easiest and cheapest option.
